Hey there. How about using luck as a mechanic instead of a stat? I remember that in the Stars without Numbers system the psychic class has an ability that allows them to reroll any roll but later on they much reroll a good roll in order to even it out? Would need to make sure that this isn't...
Thank you all for the responses and sorry it took so long to respond. School and work getting in the way heh. There were some great points in here and I will take a look at all of them before going along with one, and after I take a look at thread about criticals and fumbles.
Hello everyone. I just wanted to ask you all what you do if someone wants to do a called shot to try and kill an enemy quickly? From my first look of the PH, I didn't see anything and would like to add that mechanic in there. I was thinking that you would call if it was aimed or not and then do...
How about this:
* Instead of +Str, they gain + Dex
* You lose the Damage Resistance feature
* You gain the ability to fly. Every turn in which you are flying, make a Con save to see weather you can continue to fly or fall to the ground. Every time you fail you fall 5 feet lower in altitude...
Thanks for the replies everyone. I as just checking to make sure I wasn't breaking anything by doing that since this will be our first 5e game. I get the limited lists but when there are so many beings that could supply you power, I feel they might of cut it a bit thin.
Hello all. I am going to start up a game and one of my players asked if they could use a spell that wasn't a class spell (they wanted a wizard cantrip instead of a warlock one). Do you think it would cause any problems later on if I just let them pick the spells they wanted as long as it went...
Hello everyone, I am here today because I am sort of stumped on how to come up with different types of warlocks and what should be related to their powers in a rpg I am working on as a side project. Just wanted to ask for some opinions with what I have and what I can do to make it better. Here...
Hello all, as the title says I am trying to design a new skill system for a project of mine and want to hear what you have to say. So first of all, I am trying to get away from having it increase too much, so it is almost entirely based on the ability modifier itself. The max ability modifier...
Hmm I would say that once the enemy get's hit they need to do a preception roll to see if they know where the shot came from. I know it isn't too good to use a real life example but if someone dashes out from a hidden place and throws something at you, it usually takes awhile before you attempt...
Well I have have to check out that post then sir and thanks for the advice :).
1) I am not sure how I would go about it but I am sure if I read your post and think on it I can come up with something
2) I do like the idea of backgrounds and was thinking that would be a way to customize your...
As you travel along the crowded road in town, hearing the hustle and bustle of the townsfolk converse about their day, or are bargaining over the prices of wares, a small shop down the alley way catches your eyes. "This is strange", you think to yourself. "Why would there be such a small shop...

I would have to agree with you on this. The way the game is in the Basic version doesn't apply to me to much. It is difinately interesting but I am more curious what the PHB and other books will bring to the table so much judgment is reserved at least until then.
