The VOIDRUNNER'S CODEX is coming! Explore new worlds, fight oppressive empires, fend off fearsome aliens, and wield deadly psionics with this comprehensive boxed set expansion for 5E and A5E!
The ones that stand out to me here as major threats are 2, 6, 7.
2 depends a lot on what you mean by 'superheroic brawler'. When i read that, i think superman. If superman is coming a'calling, just forget about using the military, they won't even slow him down. Do bullets present a threat...
I look at an action like this, which they obviously planned in advance and organized, as something that the players really wanted to happen. Rather than retconning or ignoring the bombs being placed, i'd use it as the core of my next series of plot points, since proactive players are a...
Back in my day, we had real bellyaching. If someone decided he'd be angry at something, he shot himself in the stomach! THAT was something you could get angry about! Kids these days, taking the easy way out with their message boards and talking. Psh.
If the comic strip creator tried to show an explanation using physics and biology as to why this would occur, yeah, that'd annoy me. Especially if he bent or outright ignored rules. If you're making stuff up, its all good...trying to justify it within the 'physics' of the world, but still...
Though, no matter how much this might seem annoying, contrived or otherwise impossible...that's pretty much the definition of railroading. The order got rules turned against them cause of DM fiat, and got trounced due to it.
Just read todays strip, then read the giant's description of combat. That felt...extremely contrived. Its not as if he even really tried to justify how miko could take on the entire party, he just kinda said...yeah, she's a twf, but she hits consistently with 4/5 attacks, uses flawless tactics...
Obviously xykon's crown has perverted his nature in some way, and he is merely a helpless pawn in events...
Ooh, or he could be a polymorphed clone of redcloak sent on a long-term infiltration campaign.
Go 'damn, that must've been some fireworks show' and move on? (Possibly siccing some ninjas on them. Not cause of the bombing; ninjas are just cool like that.)
Eh. Durkon had a fairly succinct summary of how miko was able to survive past the first round of combat against the order, and it didn't really hinge on her being noticably more powerful. Check the strip right after she fights them.
If by 'perfectly within her rights' you mean she has the power to enforce her personal will on others without any sort of legal backing...maybe, maybe not. Comments in the comic seem to indicate that the party would wipe the floor with her in a straight-up fight.
If you mean that she has some...
I'm mildly shocked no one has offered this suggestion yet : get loans. Defecit spending is not a new concept, and if you're reasonably sure you can actually get back to a budget surplus eventually, find a moneylender and get enough cash to keep you going till you're self-sufficient. Well, that...
