What's Your Top 3 Most Favorite Movies?

Blade Runner The Empire Strikes Back Sling Blade Though it was difficult to pick the top 3. Also loved: Big Trouble in Little China Ladyhawke Raiders of the Lost Ark

    Your Highness... Worth seeing?

I guess we're weird. The wife and I laughed our butts off. (I was surprised she liked it given the low brow humor.) The deadpan delivery of the jokes was hilarious. We're still quoting lines to each other and laughing at the movie. Of course the beer could've made it funnier but we still enjoyed...

What do you love about 4e

    * Got my D&D group back together * Unified attack mechanic... everyone now attacks a defense score rather than the defender having to save vs a spell * Effect duration simplified.. no more counting rounds * All classes have interesting powers * No more "if you miss it's wasted" powers *...

    D&D 4E I want to 'update' a module to 4E/SWSE now...interested?

Keep on the Borderlands! :p A conversion of that adventure was my 3rd edition campaign starter. The black knight was a little overpowered with his spell reflecting armor but the heroes prevailed in the end. A return the borderlands might be in order for 4th edition. :)

Anyone else think 4th Ed is to combat WoW?

Combat (as directly compete with)? No. I believe they learned from WoW's revenue model and are trying to get a piece of the action. It all boils down to whether gamers feel that WOTC's online initiative adds value to the game. If it does, then it will succeed.

Can we please stop calling D&D Insider an MMORPG

Obviously 4th edition and it's online tools aren't an MMORPG to anyone that's actually played an MMORPG. However, from the rules tidbits that have been released, this new edition seems to cater more to the MMORPG game mechanic than previous editions. 3rd edition translated poorly to real time...

Good but obscure movies you've recently discovered...

I have to back up Soel with Happiness of the Katakuris. I hate musicals but the movie overall was so quirky and original I overlooked the musical parts. In fact, the actors performing the musicals were so obviously unaccustomed to singing that it made it more enjoyable to watch. The overall...

    Running Expedition to Castle Ravenloft

After the PC paladin heard about the sunsword, it was clear he wanted it (and I agree he should get it). The adventure states that she's on a quest to find the sword. So if she accompanied the party to Eva, discovered its location, and helped the PCs recover it, it seems implausible to me that...

    Running Expedition to Castle Ravenloft

Thanks for the info! I also noticed more tidbits about Ireena while in the castle. Seems like i better go ahead and read the whole thing before next session.

    Running Expedition to Castle Ravenloft

After about a year hiatus, I picked this up and started the D&D group again. So far we're really enjoying it. The tactical format (on facing pages) is a great idea. Relevant combat info (everything from monster stats to environmental modifiers) are right there. I'm probably spoiled now...

    [June] What are you playing?

Ok, I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you've heard of World of Warcraft (WOW) and you're asking about Half-Life 2: Episode 1. :) Half-Life 2: Episode 1 is a continuation of Half-Life 2 released in 2004. IMO one of the best first person shooters to date. It had smart AI, physics...

    [June] What are you playing?

I loved FreeSpace. Wish we could see a sequel. Currently WOW is draining my life but I also downloaded Half-Life 2: Episode 1. Just finished it today. Pretty short but fun. Moves the story along and the graphics are amazing. Will definitely pick up the next episode.

    Necromancer/White Wolf hacked

I wouldn't be surprised if it was an organized group of criminals, just spamming threats to any and all sites they've managed to hack. They probably don't know a thing about the RPG business, just trying to extort money from their victims.

    Opinions on gmail?

I've been pondering this task myself. I like gmail alot but hotmail is due for an upgrade soon. They are currently testing a version code-named Kahuna that has an Outlook style interface. Once that's released I might be tempted back to hotmail so I haven't fully committed to gmail yet...

    So Torn! WoW of CoV?

WOW is based on Blizzard's Warcraft universe, not Warhammer. I was never a fan of Warcraft but I really like WOW. Everything seems new to me and I like what I see so far.

    So Torn! WoW of CoV?

Retail boxes of WOW come with a 10-day trial key. That's how I got sucked in. :p I resisted playing it until most of my friends were playing. They brought the game over, installed it, and gave me a trial key and I've been hooked ever since. The only bad thing about the trial version is...

I SPEAK! (Re: MerricB Speaks Re: Mark Jindra Speaks)

I'd guess Keep on the Borderlands. They just released high-level iconic deathtrap Tomb of Horrors so going the opposite direction with a low-level iconic dungeon crawl makes sense to me. Plus its not too much work to refactor low level NPCs and monsters.

    [Nov.] What are you playing?

For PC: FEAR - great game... just finished it last weekend. I agree that it had a cool ending. The scary parts didn't scare me as much as in the demo. Weird. That didn't diminish its playability and fun-factor though. Quake 4 - played it for a bit but stopped in favor of FEAR. When I saw the...

Movies that made an impression on me

Kung Fu Hustle - great martial arts comedy. Pays homage to Bruce Lee as some of the fight scenes near the end are choreographed identically to scenes from Enter the Dragon. Sling Blade - not sure what it is about this film, but Billy Bob's performance and the bitter sweet ending stuck with me.
