It is a mix...the DMs try to spend some time on scenery and atmosphere, but the player to player conversation tends to be modern.

Yes Gimp is great. But its lack of vector-based drawing tools keeps it from being ideal. I often use the two of them (Gimp and Paint) in concert, drawing the geometric base in Paint, then moving it into Gimp for doing layers, coloring, background, etc. Keep in mind that I am not good at it...

One final thing to add about voice chat... ...we use Skype but more often than not we end up typing in game rather than speaking. That way we have a full chat log to refer back to, plus it is often easier to roleplay through typing than by voice.

I've only used Fantasy Grounds with Skype (very good quality sound, full duplex) and I had great luck with it.

Wait, I haven't read the PHBII yet but I just read the article on WotC about the new polymorph and they specifically stated that mental stats do NOT change. Is this an error or are they already altering the altered rules?
