Have you looked at First Fable (available through RPGNow)? It's available as a Pay What You Want product. It might be a bit too basic for your needs, but I figured I'd toss it into the mix. I picked it up thinking I'd use it with my kids, but they jumped into D&D 4e and enjoyed it so wound up...

I haven't run 4e (aside from a Gamma World game that lasted all of 3 sessions), but I might implement some of this if I do run the system. The 9+ success reminds me of Barbarians of Lemuria (which is my current favorite system) and the other adjustments are intriguing. Not for everyone...

Yes, the news page is often the only page I check when I come here (which is typically two or three times a week), and I read each section to get an overview of what's going on in the gaming world. If I find something that catches my eye, I'll use the nugget I find here to track down more info...
