    Forgotten Realms...

A campaign world should not change so drastically in "this" 20 year period, unless something apocolyptic is about to occur. The rapid progression of the current FR era seems super advanced when compared to most other 20 year periods in FR history. Maybe they are trying to emulate real world...

Why do people think high-level play is munchkin? I've got a theory

Oh Sage Master, teach us!!!! (Bow, Bow, kneel, kneel) Thanx for making all those assumptions.

    Forgotten Realms...

Wether it's GH or FR, or straight up 3E rules for magic item progression, they all promote "stat munchkins" with the ease of availability. It's his belief and mine. That's a fact. You don't care about ours... etc. etc.

    Forgotten Realms...

Officially, I actually agree with the earlier poster. The FRCS 3E has seamingly toned down the high magic feel. Many of the "save all" spells that some of the epic NPCs had are changed or gone. The novels do lace the world with magic, though, even if they are based on the best of the best...

    Forgotten Realms...

Did I equate magical socks and underwear with FRCS? No. Did I say that FRCS should load players with a never ending supply of magic items? No. Did I say once that NPCs in the FRCS were way overloaded with magic items? No. Do first level characters get bonus magic items by region and do most...

Cleric´s 2 skill points is pathetic.

Wasn't making any negative comments about my cleric's skill points, so I'm not sure why you picked my reply to quote.

Cleric´s 2 skill points is pathetic.

My fellowship includes a barbarian/cleric with a -1 to his INT, thus 1skill point per level. On top of this, he has no ranks in Knowlege: Religion because he would know NO other trained skills.

    Forgotten Realms...

I think I recall saying "Too much magic.....Muchkinism" of which you replied with "Underlying statement......Typical role player". That seemed rather personal, which I resent. At least you used the correct term, "Role Player". Remember I said "Too much magic", not "the right amount of magic"

    It doesn't..... And right.....

    Forgotten Realms...

Possibly you have some personal problems that seeped out in this one? Anyway, what character knew what level he was? How does having a higher level of magic make things "more" role playing? Magical socks and underwear might make your role playing experience better, but not mine.

    Forgotten Realms...

I guess people here like the high fantasy of Tolkien rather than the Earth inspired FRCS. I do. Too much magic makes the game, well, rather muchkin-like and, well, less role play-like. I still use FRCS, as my players prefer this setting. Luckily I as DM give out the treasure and magic items...

    How to handle traps?

No trap should be seen with a Spot check, uless it is poorly made or lacking the quality of most traps. A Search check must be made to find most traps. You "Spot" with your eyes, you "Search" with your hands, while not always the case, more often than not separates the two skills. Normally...

    Remember Weapon Speeds?

Blunt is true. Reach is great too, but a simple modifier for weapon size would still help. Larger weapons do alot more damage. There is your reach.

    The d30 system

We should use coins, men, coins!!!

    Remember Weapon Speeds?

Does anyone know why there are no weapon speeds anymore? I'm sure this has been asked, but I haven't seen it. Does anyone have any house rules on such? I'm thinking that a lighter shortsword or dagger is quicker than a great axe, even if the reach is a little less... If there is an obvious...

    The d30 system

The most effective way of adding value to EVERY stat. or roll would be to use percentage dice for EVERYTHING
