which realm is your game set in?

I run exclusively in the Kingdoms of Kalamar (when I'm playing D&D that is, I also have Vampire, Demon, HackMaster and Savage Worlds games) If I were to try out a new setting I'd like to PLAY in Kalamar (by far my favorite setting) and I'd probably try out Midnight and Slaine as well (own a few...

Anybody have "Dangerous Denizens: Monsters of Tellene" yet?

I was telling people $29.99 because I just couldn't fathom the book being any cheaper. My jaw fell open when it was pointed out to me that it's only $24.99. I would have paid the five extra, but such a cheap price (especially when some books that came out at GenCon of equivalent size were...

Anybody have "Dangerous Denizens: Monsters of Tellene" yet?

Dave has been planning a sourcebook for Kalamar for some time now. I know other regions (such as the Young Kingdoms) will have to wait for that book as obviously Kalamar is the parent kingdom and most likely heavily influences them. Other regions don't have to wait, though, so I'd bet you'll be...

    Kingdoms of Kalamar

Re: kalamar Starting in the middle, eh? Sounds like Kalamar and the Young Kingdoms. Expect books on both these regions in the coming years (also, if your DM needs an infusion of Young Kingdoms material for some plot ideas, tell him to check out the Living Kingdoms of Kalamar. We play in Pekal...

    Kingdoms of Kalamar

All that depends on your DM. Although it's generally assumed that Kalamar is a low magic setting, it's simply designed that way to allow the DM to add the level of magic he prefers. A lot of how Kalamar is run is going to be based on his/her preferences. The setting is highly detailed with lots...

Has the 3.5 Monster Manual gone PG-13?

I find the new artwork amazingly hypocritical. On numerous occassions WotC has refused to approve Kenzer artwork because the artists showed the impression caused by a nipple in clothing. Yet they randomly throw a pierced nipple on the cover of the Fiend Folio and throw it about all over the...

    Dangerous Denizens Arrives!

Well, no better way to support your FLGS than to buy a quality product. :D

    Dangerous Denizens Arrives!

Awe hell! I didn't even look at the price. Someone else did and told me it was $29.99. So that's what I've been saying. $24 bucks is a home run in my opinion, especially for the size and quality. Last monster book I picked up topped 40, which automatically makes it out of my price range.

    Dangerous Denizens Arrives!

That is correct, sir. And they did a stellar job on this one, especially considering the large amount of mechanics involved with so many monsters and a 3.5 change over.

    Dangerous Denizens Arrives!

I got my copy of Dangerous Denizens last night. I was anxious to see how this book would turn out, especially saying it was 3.5 through and through. But, after going over it, I have to say that I'm mightily impressed. 236 pages filled to the brim with monsters and only a $30 price tag! Any...

    "Living" Campaigns

Living Campaigns Well, Mark is almost right. The first EIGHT modules are available and by September it'll be 15. We're also not even a year old yet. As for Living campaigns in general, there are definitely ups and downs. Most people that play got into it because their home campaigns...

    [KoK] Two free monster previews!

For vertical creatures, that's true. But that thing looks more like a horse to me. ...but the artwork is really cool. I'm excited about this book.

I will Living Greyhawk no more!

Re: Re: I will Living Greyhawk no more! I lurk on a lot of the LG boards, and there are some regions that are just scary in the way the people act. The abuse, antagonism and meanness that comes about because they want to "win" seems antithetical to role playing at all. It was with horror, one...

I will Living Greyhawk no more!

Perhaps the most recent incarnation of the campaign documentation finally says this (as it has been debated ad nauseum for two years), but it originally started as a misconception between Erik Mona and another campaign staff member. Erik even came out and said that he never planned to write the...

I will Living Greyhawk no more!

I would have to disagree. I have yet to play a core module that has the depth and flavor that my regional modules have. I was lucky enough to fall into a region that matched my style of play and offered the kind of flavor I wanted. With the constant rules changes, though, I don't think any...

    Accordlands: Good name or not?

Accord? Discord? Record? It makes me think of acorns as well. Linguisticly speaking, it's just a poorly assembled word. The D causes you to break to complete the sound. Following it with another consonant rather than a vowel (which can flow off of a break like that) causes the word itself...

    Dwarf power-ups: Good or bad?

Overpowered dwarves I don't think the weapon familiarity overpowers dwarves for the simple fact that dwarves are already overpowered. When Wizards first explained why the half-orc was the only race to get only one + to abilities scores but two -s, they said it was because Strength comes...

    Best D20 non-WotC Campaign Setting?

Yes, there is a Living Kingdoms of Kalamar which provides a dozen or more modules a year to play as an ongoing campaign set in the Principality of Pekal. Although a Living campaign can be played at home or at conventions, I've found that they predominate conventions and monthly gamedays rather...

    Best D20 non-WotC Campaign Setting?

Although I've been chomping at the bit and wanting to try my die at Wheel of Time and Slaine, I play almost exclusively in the Kingdoms of Kalamar. Where one man says that the setting requires too much DM input, I enjoy it because I am given a wealth of information and ideas without being...
