    Best paints for minis

apple crate, barrel, whatever. The gist of what I'm getting from various sources is that all the paint have their strong and weak points, and that really it's a matter of preference which ones I should use. Which does help, really, because now I can just look and see what's most reliable...

    Best paints for minis

Frank, I have to say again, thanks for the links, that's more information than I was expecting (almost too much to read). Nightwind, Janx, I was just at Micheals today, and looked a their selection of acrylics, and Apple Barrel was the cheapest. My question then, is , is the old adage true...

    Best paints for minis

Hey all, I am thinking of taking up the brush after a long time away. I just checked my paints, and those that haven't separated have congealed. Thus, I need to restock, from scratch. Previously, I bought colors piecemeal, as needed, from whatever brands were on hand at my local shop. This...

    Rules change ruined the economy!

tvknight415: Brilliant. a bit too involved to work into the campaign, but brilliant nonetheless. Talonne Hauk: I'm not familiar with Pearls of Speech, where are they from? I think having the economy in ruins (for this kingdom, not IRL) is more fun, especially if the characters have to go...

    Rules change ruined the economy!

Wait, really? I thought that detect magic gave you the generalities, but identify would be needed for specifics. Like, detect could tell you it's a wand of fireballs but you would need identify to figure out how many charges were left and what the command word was. Am I reading that rule...

    Rules change ruined the economy!

Yeah, that's what I'll probably do in the end, but there is just not as much demand for pearls in general as there was for the spell component pearls. Also, I'm thinking it might make a good adventure to have the party have to go to these islands that are in political and economic disarray...

    Rules change ruined the economy!

So, my group is in the process of switching to PF from 3.5, and it's going okay so far, we're very pleased with the new ruleset. However, as I was looking at it from the point of view of a DM with a homebrew campaign setting, I was horrified at one of the changes. The spell identify no longer...

    Adventure Path end levels

No problem! What brought on the question was I noticed that the little blurb describing the final module of several APs mentioned suggestions for continuing adventures based on the events of the AP, and I wasn't sure if that meant into epic levels, or in the aftermath but with new, low-level...

    Adventure Path end levels

New Question about AP... That's what I suspected. My group played the proto-adventure path, Shackled City, but that was 12 modules. I wasn't sure if the 6 module APs did the same. I was further confused by the adventure blurbs that said the final module included suggestions on how to...

    Adventure Path end levels

So, I'm thinking of running an AP, and I'd like to know what level the players should be when they reach the end. Specifically, I am considering The Curse of the Crimson Throne, Kingmaker, or Serpent's Skull.

    Weapons of Legacy

Anyone else want to weigh in on the last post for the Rohuna (two posts back)? Nice, gamerprinter, I like that. I think I will swipe the idea of specific triggers. I really like the idea that something as simple as an awl can have an ancestral spirit to it.

    Weapons of Legacy

Chronologist, I had the same thought about the enhancement bonus, I just wasn't sure when to do it. Whispering Wind is too passive a spell, and I'm saving Fly for another weapon, but I will add it Protection from Arrows, as it fits the backstory perfectly. Everyone, how does this progression...

    Weapons of Legacy

Okay, back on topic and to check my math, also to solicit advice on when/how the ablilities are unlocked, I present to you Rohuna, the sword of wind (crunch only): The sword starts out at a +1 longsword (2,315) It then gains the following abilities: Gust of Wind 5/day; 2nd level spell * 3rd...

    Weapons of Legacy

Alright, at the risk of derailing my own thread, what exactly is Vow of Poverty? Where does it come from, what does it do, why is it bad? I don't have lots of extra cash for peripheral rulebooks, which I why I was asking about Weapons of Legacy, so I assume VoP is in some rulebook I haven't...

    Weapons of Legacy

(in the current campaign, my 13th level fighter only has a +1 battleaxe. he spend all his gold on armor. it didn't help him, he was turned into a ghost. i start playing a new character next session) So, what I'm taking away from this is: there are other, perhaps easier ways of doing it that...

    Weapons of Legacy

That method is pretty much what I thought of doing, until I found out about the book, and wondered how it did things. And yeah, I planned on budgeting the upgrades into the treasure handed out.

    Weapons of Legacy

That is good to know, because some of the ideas I have are not exactly represented in the standard rules. For example, I have an idea for a sword that grants access to some wind spells (as in,swing it a certain way and the spell effect triggers), which isn't addressed in the magic weapon...

    Weapons of Legacy

Frank, thanks for the opposing opinion. My next question, I suppose, is what exactly is the ratio of powers:gold? Having not yet read the book, and only going by the reviews, I did not see the logic behind having your magic weapon, which is supposed to help you attack, give you a -1 in that...
