Captain Jarvis personally escorts you back to his watch station after overseeing the retrieval of all the evidence and perpetrators, which takes a little over an hour. Your group is allowed to stand off to the side without participating in the proceedings. At the watch station things are very busy as prisoners are processed and evidence is checked in. The captain barks out a series of orders then escorts you to his office. It is a spartan affair. There is a single desk in the center of the room with neatly organized papers and writing implements stacked on the desk in meticulous order. The back of the wall bears the insignia of the city of Manas, a coat of arms with crossed spears and a proud male lion imposed on the center. Hanging from the wall on either side is an ornamental longsword and a jeweled battle axe. Opposite the wall with the insignia is a bookcase with several scrolls and tomes of regulations, laws and protocols. The captain sits down at the desk and invites you to take a seat in one of several chairs arranged in front of the desk.

"Well now, where should I begin?" he mutters, "You were found in the munitions warehouse of the Silver Mantle Company brandishing weapons and I have heard several civilian reports of an attack upon the administration building in the same compound. A tiefling guard was found dead there and another tiefling and several humans were found greatly wounded. But you apparently have a letter of marque from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, so I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt for the moment. Perhaps you'd care to explain exactly what you were doing and why. Your letter of marque might make you immune to prosecution, as long as you cooperate. So, out with it. What is going on?"

Well, its a long history, but it seems that you got time,so here it is: We're investigating the Silver Mantle Company.it seems that their leader,Darok, have some illegal activities goin on there with their cargo.we have been told by the Parliament to discover what it was.we're in the right path it seems, since we fought a transmuter who was about to summon evil forces in the city,as you have seen by the circle on the floor and the book.but Darok escaped and we can't do much about it now, unless you let us solve this mystery.about the wounded and dead,i treated them, some died and many more would have died if it was not by me.as a cleric of Pelor, i have done all in my power to save them from death.

OOC: In case you think it is necessary,i have rolled a Diplomacy check.

"You make a good point, cleric," the captain says staring woodenly, "but healing those you attacked hardly makes up for attacking them in the first place. Nevertheless you are correct that there was some suspicious activity going on in that warehouse. Perhaps you can explain to us exactly what you witnessed. If he was trying to 'summon evil forces,' as you say he was, how do you know? We certainly didn't find any such evil forces, and I'm afraid it will be some time before I can find a scholar to decipher that tome we found. So tell me, what exactly did you see? What did the man, Darok say?"

Then you still have questions.why then you don't ask to Grimlow,a man that works in the Silver Mantle Company about the mysterious disappearance of Klimine, after a heated discussion with Darok?she was another person who worked there.also, when we're fighting the transmuter,he said something about the black magic of Dezmaeron.he was drawing magical powers from this entity,it was this way he fought us.i'm sure he was trying to summom something related to this Dezmaeron.luckly, we stopped him from doing that.if you don't have a decipher, maybe Erik could do this work for you.could you let him try?

OOC: i need to roll another skill check or the previous one is enough for now?

Erik nods eagerly to show his interest to help. Also he will maybe gain new arcane knowledge from studying book and circle.

As Krawlinstar speaks, Captain Jarvis opens his desk to retrieve a piece of paper, lays it out on top of the desk, then removes the stopper from a bottle of ink on his desk, picks up a quill, dips it in the ink, and begins to jot down notes in meticulous detail and superb handwriting. "Grimmlow, you say?" he mutters as he jots down some notes about the character. "And this Klimine, you say she disappeared?" he continues, continuing to scribble at an incredible pace. "Darok... black magic... Dezma..." at this point his voice trails off and he stares at Krawlinstar, jaw hanging open. It is the first time you have seen the captain let down his guard. For a brief moment, you even catch a glimpse of what you imagine to be pure terror in his eyes, but he quickly regains his composure, shakes his head and mutters, "No, no, it couldn't be."

Finally the captain stands up and straightens out his shirt, "Well, gentlemen, I believe that will be all. I imagine you have someone with Internal Affairs to report to so I won't keep you waiting. Of course, if you'd be willing to stop by the Evidence Department and examine that tome to give us any clues you can decipher from it, I would be much obliged. From what I gather no one has been able to make head or tail of it yet."

With that, Captain Jarvis escorts you out of his office and points you in the direction of the Evidence Department, just down the hall. You make your way there to find a sign clearly hanging over the door saying "Evidence." The door is wide open. Inside you find an enormous musty room with all sorts of shelves and tables littering with junk of various sorts. Bloody daggers, torn scraps of paper, patches of fur, burnt out torches, nothing is too strange to find here it seems. And all of it is categorized, although somewhat haphazardly, by some arcane system which boggles your mind. As you take in the sight, a balding little man with a large mole on his cheek in a grey robe and wearing a badge of the City Watch approaches from the back of the room. "Ah, welcome to the Evidence Department, sirs! I am Cryptic, the Exchequer of Evidence. How may I be of service?"

As soon as you explain your evidence, the little man's eyes light up. "Splendid! I was hoping someone would be able to tell us more about this. Come right this way."

Cryptic leads you to the center of the room where he has a table cleared off. On it, you find several tokens that you recognize from being in Darok's office when you passed through as well as the large black tome which was found in the warehouse. Though it seemed very intimidating, dark, and foreboding at the time, it looks quite harmless and innocent now.
OOC: Erik can make an Arcana check, aided by anyone else who wants to examine the book with him (DC 11 to aid). If you prefer, you can aid with a successful Religion check against DC 11.

Erik tries his best, preparing for opening himself to the book, but still shielding some of his mind... perhaps he had done to much shielding...

OOC: Don't look at Lia and her +1 to Religion or Arcana :)
On the other hand, Kwal's religion and Erik's Arcana should be 1 point higher - we're level 2 now
