Oh, for sure, I’m not opposed to sex appeal in fantasy art by any means. I just find breasts on non-mammalian humanoids silly. There are other ways to convey sex appeal and/or femininity. To be honest I wasn't paying as much attention as I should have. At a glance it was a cool warforged wizard.
Not that I think sexy always equals sexist, or that only teenage boys like sexy. I know enough adult female artists in real life to know better.
True, but humans have been putting busts on robots since someone invented the idea of robots.Oh, for sure, I’m not opposed to sex appeal in fantasy art by any means. I just find breasts on non-mammalian humanoids silly. There are other ways to convey sex appeal and/or femininity.
For sure, robot boobs are much more believable than reptile boobs for exactly that reason.True, but humans have been putting busts on robots since someone invented the idea of robots.
what would femininity in non-mammals even look like?Oh, for sure, I’m not opposed to sex appeal in fantasy art by any means. I just find breasts on non-mammalian humanoids silly. There are other ways to convey sex appeal and/or femininity.
I mean, with fantasy species, the artist kinda has free reign to define that however they like. But you can always look to real animals for inspiration. For example, in avian-like species, maybe femininity is characterized by muted and/or neutral colors and masculinity by bright colors in striking patterns. In insect-like species, maybe femininity is characterized by generally larger proportions. In robotic species, maybe femininity is characterized by sleek, curving shapes while masculinity is characterized by blocky, angular shapes. In reptile-like species, the artist might choose to display minimal visual sexual dimorphism.what would femininity in non-mammals even look like?
Eyelashes, curves, soft features. You see it all the time.what would femininity in non-mammals even look like?
Although eyelashes would be pretty silly on non-mammals too. But yeah, shape language is one of the easiest artistic tools for conveying gender. Look at, for example, Turians in Mass Effect.Eyelashes, curves, soft features. You see it all the.
You could certainly use lashes like constructs with bird folk, for example. I like it artists manipulate plumage or horns or whatever to code for hair.Although eyelashes would be pretty silly on non-mammals too. It also is fine if genders are not easily visually distinguishable on all species. It is also fine if all species do not have genders. For example I don't think that warforged really need genders.Although eyelashes would be pretty silly on non-mammals too.
