I love my Fisher Space Pen, but prefer my Rotring multi pens: having a pen, pencil and- depending on configuration- another pen or a stylus was very handy. Alas, the old styluses don't work with the new screens.
I have put a lot of thought and there are no real cheap things that have be life changers for me. cheap does not last for me at all.
Our first "Grillkamin". Sorry, I don't know the English noun for it, so a description has to suffice:

You put it on your grill, fill it with coals, place some sheets of newspaper in the bottom part and light it. Half an hour later the coals are in perfect condition.
Before we acquired this item, family barbecues were a mad affair because we never got the timing right. Now they've become relaxed.
Went to the hardware store, found a oval ring with screw closer thing (like a chain link, with a nut that screws it closed). $2. No keys fall off, yet it's easy to open to take off the truck key and hand to the mechanic or valet.
