Later today Jodie Whitaker will be regenerating into somebody else, either David Tennant or Ncuti Gatwa. It’s a 90-minute episode featuring daleks, cybermen, The Master, plus old companions Ace and Tegan.

And then it’s RTD’s turn (again!) in the showrunner’s chair!

So many old faces. Davison, McCoy, Baker. And old companions. A real nostalgia fest.

The BBC has confirmed that Tennant is the 14th Doctor, for 3 special episodes, followed by Gatwa as the 15th Doctor.

I guess we’ll find out next year. All we saw was the regeneration and Tennant saying “I know these teeth. What? What? WHAT?” Cue theme music.

Clearly he shares our confusion.

As someone who only saw the first Whittaker season and doesn't like what I've heard about some of the metaplot since then (Timeless Child), what are the essential episodes to catch up?

Oh, and I loved that the regeneration took place at Durdle Door. Beautiful place near where I grew up.
