It's certainly a dream of each and every Campestri. A troll or orc with drum as his instrument of choice is certainly welcomed in any self-respecting evil army.
As to more PC oriented creations - satyr would be an obvious choice, he's already using his pipes. Rakshass with their all around bonuses, including +6 to charisma would make a kickass bard as well.
