In the practice rooms....

Marcus

“Right,” Jason replied, looking at Marcus as if he had just grown a second head. Clearly, thinking and reflecting was not something he was used to doing.

Once Marcus’ headgear was in place and he had taken his position, the ref blew his whistle. Immediately, Jason circled left, keeping low to the ground with his hands in a guarded position. There was a look of intense concentration in his eyes.

Rinea

She wanders for a long time, with not a single hamster or zombie in sight. She does pass an abundance of flowers in a variety of shapes and colors. At last, the forest ended abruptly, giving way to a large area that seemed unnaturally devoid of life. The ground was composed of grey, tightly packed dirt. No plants grew here, and there were no sounds of wildlife to be heard. It was a strange contrast to the forest that she had just emerged from.

Jonn

“Great!” Nate said brightly. He waited for Jonn to get closer, before beginning to ascend the hill. He set a brutal pace, as the terrain steadily became more difficult. Meanwhile, the rumbling of the thunder grew louder and louder until the storm sounded as if it was directly overhead. It was then that the clouds opened up in a downpour that had both men soaked in a matter of seconds.

The ground became slippery with mud, and up ahead, Jonn saw Nate slip and fall hard onto the rocky ground.

James

Dr Garcia paused, taking a deep breath. It is clear that he was choosing his words carefully, to avoid setting James off. “No, James, I do not know for certain what is wrong with her. However, I have a few leads, and I would like to pursue them, with your permission. The specialists that I had in mind are experts in mystical and spiritual matters. They might be able to shed some light onto what is causing her ailment, as there is nothing physically wrong with her.”

James blinks at Dr Garcia's words, the answer obviously not the one he was expecting. "Oh." His brief moment of blankness quickly over, James's perpetual frown reappears - but this time, it seems more curious than angry. "Spiritual and mystical? She's this way because of science. You think magic might be able to help?" For the first time in the doctor's presence, James's anger actually seems to be overridden by curiosity - and a deeply-buried spark of hope.

“Right,” Jason replied, looking at Marcus as if he had just grown a second head.
"It's okay, Jas," Marcus commented, "I don't think much either."

Marcus closed with his opponent, but maintained a defensive stance. 'Alrighty, let's see what Jas' got going on,' Marcus thought.

"I think I have heard enough of aliens to fill a rumor magazine," Hoshiko says with a sigh. "I can imagine no reason to have aircraft present, and we flew into the airport. So probably it is a construction area for the engineering and design classes. Perhaps they will make a flying disc for a project if you suggest it."

“Dr. Garcia wanted to see you,” the pudgy man replied, as he absentmindedly mopped his brow with a handkerchief. “About the girl in the infirmary. Do you have a moment to meet with him and one of her family members?”

"Oh, absolutely," she says with growing excitement. "I'd love to help in any way I can. Please, lead on."

James

“I think it is possible, James. As I have said before, we have been running tests on her, and there is nothing physically wrong with her. In fact, she is healthier than most girls her age yet she remains in this coma.” Dr. Garcia paused and looked to Amelia’s still form with a perplexed expression upon his face, before looking back to James. “Yesterday, one of the students saw her, and pointed out that her spirit has somehow been separated from her body. I spoke with Ms. Cross, and she verified the student’s discovery. It is for this reason that I want to try a different route.”

As he spoke, a soft noise could be heard from the door. Standing in the doorway was the portly man who had spoken with him earlier, as well as the Native American girl from his family group, Cloud.

Hoshiko

“That could be,” Ken replied, though the expression made it clear that he was not entirely convinced.

“Well, I for one cannot wait to do some exploring on my own,” Julie spoke up. “I heard that there’s hidden passageways honeycombing this place. Wouldn’t that be awesome?”

Cloud

The portly man in the lab coat nodded, and began making his way back into the building. He leads her through the hallways, past the red room, and down the stairs to the med lab. He stops just outside the doorway, allowing Cloud to enter the room ahead of him. The frail girl was still lying in her bed in the corner. Standing in the center, Dr Garcia stood talking with the brooding guy from her family group, James. As they entered the room, Dr. Garcia turned and offered her a smile.

Meanwhile, in the practice rooms...

Marcus

Jason continued to circle left, watching Marcus carefully. Occasionally, he would make a sharp move to one side or another, testing Marcus’ reaction to that movement. Then at last, he ducked his head and moved forward, impacting with his right shoulder in an attempt to knock Marcus off his balance. The impact felt to Marcus like he was getting hit in the chest with something heavy, like an anvil.

Rinea

She takes a step into the grey area, her boots crunching loudly on the rocky soil beneath her feet. Then, she heard a soft squeaking noise from behind her. She turned in time to see a small black and white hamster emerge from the growth, clad in a miniature space suit. It scurried from the undergrowth, and paused to sniff at her with mild curiosity.

"Oooph," Marcus exclaimed as his breath rushed out of his chest. He braced and looked to throw Jason, using the momentum that Jason already had from his attack.

'I'm guessing this guy is a football player, Marcus thought. 'They like to slam into their opponents hoping to pancake them. Not today, buddy, not today.

Jonn Birkey (Rumble)

Jonn enjoyed the moment, the challenge and excitement of the climb. As the rain began to drench him he could not help it as laughter erupted from inside of him. With a giant smile he looked up to see if Nate was having as good a progress as he was.
The ground became slippery with mud, and up ahead, Jonn saw Nate slip and fall hard onto the rocky ground.

He looked just in time to see Nate loose his grip and fall to the ground, hitting the wet, muddy rocks below. "NOOOO!!"

Jonn didn't think. He reached out for Nate with one hand and motioned with it like he was picking something up and pulling it towards him. He watched the rocks below Nate begin to rumble and it looked like they were rising. At that moment Jonn briefly remembered this was only some kind of illusion, he just didn't care.
