Movie Sequels

I don't know if people even think of it as a sequel anymore, but From Russia With Love is a step up from Dr No in the Eon's 007 franchise.
I think it's definitely fair to see them as sequels where it appears to be the same Bond. Continuity-wise, Connery, Lazenby, Moore and Dalton Bonds are the same guy (c.f. some refs like Moore-Bond going to the grave of Lazenby-Bond's wife - in a movie that was meant to be Dalton-Bond - they'd be trying to get Dalton to play Bond since 1966! And first one written specifically for Dalton was For Your Eyes Only, which of course Moore did), so are theoretically all sequels after the first, then Brosnan is kinda in his own continuity, and Craig is definitely in a separate continuity, so I think sequels could be considered either within those three continuities, or for each actor separately maybe.

I'll take your word for it. I know I fell between the "I saw it in the theater" and "I streamed it" generations, It was a Blockbuster night, actually Video Factory or Rite-Aid in the early 80s and I know we went through a Bond phase but I cant remember one from the other. How many times can you put rockets on skis or a laser into a pen? I will say that Daniel Craig was probably my favorite with the second Casino Royale. Didnt hurt that Chris Cornell did the theme song. That was a good hard reboot. But in all honesty my moneys on the Naked Gun 2-1/2: the Smell of Beer...

The first Casino Royale was an out-of-continuity oddball comedy, one of those oddities arising from someone getting the rights to a specific work, most prominently featuring David Niven and Woody Allen.
Yeah, I kind of remembered that it wasn't considered too serious but couldn't remember who "starred" in it. I thought it might have been Peter Sellars or some such but I'm sure you're correct.

Who played in the first Casino Royale, was it Lazenby?
Lazenby was in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969), perhaps most remembered as "The one where Bond gets married and then his wife immediately gets murdered" or "The one where Telly Savalas plays Blofeld". As a kid it was the Bond movie that made the most emotional impact on me, but I misremembered/Mandela Effect'd it as being a Connery Bond movie until recently.

I grew up or should say I came to age when VHS was all the rage. I was 8-10 y/o probably and went through the horror phase, fantasy phase, Bond phase, but its been so long that it all runs together for me at times.

As I recall, David Niven and Woody Allen were James Bond and his son Jimmy Bond respectively, but Sellers was in there too - possibly as the villain?

Did you miss the ancillary Flint/Matt Helm phase?
