[sblock=BigB]What kind of ring is it? Any gemstones? Gold? Silver? etc? Phoenix may be tough as nails, but she is a girl and is interested in jewlery. She will try slipping it on her right middle finger even though it must be too big if it was on the ogre. (Just in case it adjusts to fit ;))[/sblock]
As they leave the dead ogre, Phoenix says to the others, "Hey, look what I found on that ogre! Nice ring, huh?"

After alot more walking, the trio decides to make camp. Phoenix says that she would prefer 2nd or 3rd shift on watch.

"These men are in a hurry if we haven't caught them yet. Or perhaps they know these tunnels better. I haven't seen a discarded, spent torch or remains of a campsite thus far. This patch of tunnel looks as good as the next to stop in. Lets camp out here." Lookspring sets out his caltrops a short distance away from camp between their beds and the direction they are traveling. He agrees to take the first shift so that he can sleep uninterrupted the rest of the night.

[sblock=Phoenix]The ring is a gold band which adjusts size to fit her finger as she puts it on.[/sblock]

You rest the night with no other encounters. You have the feeling of the quiet before the storm.

After another full day of walking the tunnel it begins to narrow as the Lightless space gives way to your illumination, revealing a restricted, steeply sloping tunnel that is maybe 5 feet wide and 7 feet tall. Posts of green wood hold up the walls. The air is damp, stinking with rot. How far it penetrates downward is lost to darkness.

"Those Ogres must've had fun squeezing through this tunnel." Phoenix remarks, looking around. "Tight tunnel will make fighting tough with only one person at a time in the front. We've walked all day again, anybody wanna rest here at the mouth of this tunnel, or do we push on?" she asks Lookspring and Rowan.

"Right." says Rowan, yawning and stretching. "It does seem to have been a whole day, though who knows, really. This is probably a good place to rest. I suspect we'll be seeing snakes shortly."

"Still no snake men to kill, and we are farther and farther from our village and all those delicious hydra steaks." Lookspring grumbles aloud as they set up camp and he digs into another one of his rations. "Maybe we can find some rats in the tunnels ahead to cook."
He sets out his caltrops once more and, feeling restless, goes back to poking his "pet" viper. Using a spent torch as a prod, he works on trying to teach his snake to stay in one spot and guard, though with little success. He thinks it make take him some practice to learn the best way to train the animal.

You spend another uninterrupted night in the tunnels.

The narrower section slopes downward at about a 45 degree angle. The air seems to pulse ahead, bringing with it a scent like that which precedes a storm. After 1000 ft it opens to a terrace, about 20ft wide and long with a ceiling of 8 to 10ft high. The porch has no far wall, instead opening to a great, echoing hollow. This close to the cavernous rift, the air seems charged as if a great storm is imminent. The walls of the opening ascend and descend, moving closer together as the rise into darkness, forming a wider space as the descend. 2 humanoid forms lie unmoving near where the terrace drops off into the hollow.

Phoenix, F Elan Soulknife 5 (AC: 20, HP: 50, PP: 6)

Int check (1d20+0=2)
Phoenix looks at the strange scene without a clue... "What happened here?" she asks softly.

[sblock=OOC] Phoenix is approved for level 5. Biggest change is that she can now manifest her mind blade as a free action instead of a move action, and now her mindblade is the size of a longsword doing 1d8 base damage instead of the 1d6 for short sword size that it was.[/sblock]

Lookspring looks at the bodies with the disappointment showing clearly on his face. "Damn, we were supposed to kill them.. He scratches his head and looks around, now considering the possibility that there may be something else to kill around here. After all, they didn't choke on the rations from the looks of things.
