This week I look at a sampling of the RPGs and gaming related projects on Kickstarter and GameFound. These projects end between September 14th to October 4th and include a game that is at seven-figures in funding and four games that are in the six-figure range.
In this article, I look at RPG crowdfunding projects ending between July 30th to August 19th. This week’s offerings include an idea fit for TV, multiple 5e products, magazines, a convention, and more.
This week, I look at crowdfunding projects that end between July 19th and August 5th. While these projects include D&D, Savage Worlds, GURPS, and original systems, I’m also sharing an upcoming gaming convention.
This week, I look at RPG crowdfunding projects and quickstarters that end between April 8th and 29th. These projects include some epic 5e offerings, options for Call of Cthulhu, Storypath, Powered by the Apocalypse, and more. In addition, I write about a few RPG adjacent projects at the end.
Last month, I woke up at 4:40 AM to join a tabletop roleplaying convention half the world away: in one click I logged onto the Session Zero Online convention, where 150 designers, fans, and merchants met from the Philippines, Singapore, Korea, Malaysia, and more to discuss, buy, and playtest games.
Table roleplaying games provide rules usually for nine or less players and a gamemaster to create characters, describe a world, and go on adventures. However, there are many other ways to experience RPGs besides playing home games. Here are d6 additional ways for you to enjoy tabletop RPGs.
This week I look at RPG crowdfunding projects that end by April 30th. As I’ve been doing, I review campaigns as well as Kicktraq’s charts of how they’re performing. These projects began after March 11th (when American sporting events suspended their games signaling the scope of the pandemic), and present an informative view of launching new games amid this global crisis. With many...
The World Health Organization (WHO) recently announced that the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus is officially a pandemic. The implications for what a pandemic means for the tabletop gaming industry are both far-reaching and subtle. Here's how it might impact gamers everywhere. Please note: This isn't health advice; follow your local government regulations and laws and don't game with others if...
This week, I look at RPG crowdfunding projects that end between November 22nd through Thanksgiving (28th). Of the eighteen projects covered here, six end on US Thanksgiving eve or the day of Thanksgiving. It's a bold decision and I’m eager to see how many final 48 hours bids they pick up.
This week I share RPG crowdfunding campaigns that end between November 15th to the 21st. Among these 17 campaigns is the fourth member of the million-dollar RPG crowdfunding campaign. What’s that? It’s a tabletop RPG crowdfunding project that reaches a million dollars like Matt Colville’s Strongholds & Streaming, John Wick’s (now Chaosium’s) 7th Sea: Second Edition, and Hit Point Press’...
Every April I shed my freelancer disguise for the clothes of a Track Director at what is one of Atlanta’s best conventions, JordanCon. To be honest it's the same black tee shirt and jeans, I just put them in a suitcase and pop on down to the Crowne Plaza® Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia. Along with the tools to bring the beauty of Science Fiction to what is primarily a Fantasy-focused membership...
I’ve been to TerrifiCon a few times, but this visit was a chance to get my Star Wars Role-Playing Game signed by Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), which would add to the other signatures of the Star Wars principal actors from the film franchise. So with family in tow, we made the trek to Mohegan Sun.
At UK Games Expo last weekend, we ran about 15 one-hour demonstrations of our Judge Dredd & The Worlds of 2000 AD RPG. There were three of us doing the demos - myself, Andy Peregrine, and Al Bell. Each of us had our own little scenario. I ran either four or five sessions in total.
Paizocon, the official convention of Paizo and all things Pathfinder, returns for it’s 11th year from May 24-27 next year in Seattle, US. Badges are now available. Click on the image below!
Dragonmeet is a small one-day convention in London. It's been a few years since I've been there, and while it's still small, it has certainly grown since my last visit. That said, it's one of those conventions which I hope stay small, as that gives it a certain charm and friendliness that can be hard to match with larger events. Here's a couple of things I found while at Dragonmeet this year.
