It has, but not since 1985, in Dragon #96, when some guy named Ed Greenwood wrote "The Ecology of the Gulgrutha", covering both the ordinary and neo variety of dung eaters. I think the otyugh is prime material for a 3.5 ecology article.

so noted. ;)

i know there's a thread on the Paizo forums that lists 'em all... we need a link for that, or maybe just re-post the list. :)

OK, getting things started... to meet criterion #2, i went through Monster Mythology and picked out those beings which had gods, have appeared in 3E, and did not have ecology articles in the last 100 issues. i left off the big races, like elves, dwarves, and orcs, since they are beyond the scope of an ecology article. if you can think of a reason why we should kick any of these of the list, speak now. ;)

Mongrelfolk - #242
Myconids
Firbolgs
Ettin - #92
Fomorians

Ixixachitl - #85

Lycanthropes (rat - #251, bear, tiger, wolf)

I'd advise against this one, as it needs to cover far too many possibilities. Plus, the information in the MM is fairly thorough. Finally, I'd have no interest in reading it, let alone writing it. ;)

Aarakocra - These guys have gotten pretty thorough treatment between Monsters of Faerun and Races of Faerun.

Naga - Got fairly thorough treatment in Serpent Kingdoms.

Of those you listed, a few stand out for me as great candidates:

Locathah
Merfolk
Tritons

I see little mention of any of those three on the messageboards, and they rarely see use in adventures. I'd say they could use the publicity.

Ki-rin - Underused and with a couple of great variants (t'uen-rin and dragon horse)

Bullywugs - Featured recently in Savage Tide, so interest may be waxing

Unicorn - #77
Pegasus

These two are surprisingly underused in 3E.

Dryad - #87
Nymph - #240

Ya gotta love the hotties. :D
