Thank you to everyone that responded here and via e-mail. Tuerny was able to secure some money from his family for the travel costs as an early graduation gift (he finishes school at the end of summer... and I don't actually think they were planning to give him a gift at all, but I guess it never hurts to ask). Woohoo!!!!!
As for lodging, another friend of his has a friend that lives in the Indy area and will likely be able to let him stay "on the couch". If not, many people have offered to help him with hotel stay. So all is well!!!
Thanks again for the offers and info. I knew there was a reason I spent at least some small part of my work day checking these boards (well... let's be honest here... some days, I've spent my whole workday reading these boards). The community here ROCKS!!!!!
