The changes to the skill challenge system look pretty radical. It looks like they didn't playtest the old version too much and now I wonder if the new version has been tested thoroughly or not...
From what I've heard, it's less that they didn't playtest the skill challenges and more that that the version the playtesters were using was different then the version in the PHB.
since its a daily it honestly would not bother me if a Wizard did this. Occupying a square feels more controller like though so I think its a good fix.
Honestly the real problem I had with it was that there was no sort of penalty for moving into the square. The kruthik takes damage from starting its turn next to it because its that damn hot, but then charges through it and is fine?(this, unlike the previously alluded to flaming hamster wizard, actually did happen in our game)

Yeah its actually not that good of a tactic if you're following the RAW(which if you allow this you probably are) because it doesn't grant any bonuses to defense or grant concealment (though it should, but hey, we're RAWing it hardcore here) and it puts the wizard up where the brutes will beat on it. Its just the fact that you can (or you could slap it on a fighter who could keep all the enemies next the sphere I suppose).
Seriously, was their plan to release an inferior product and then just watch the message boards to find errors to fix?
I feel sorry for all those gamers out there that bought the books and won't even think to go online to look up erratas. Imagine the pain in those sessions.
Yeah, we're playing 4e a bit now in my group. And it is fun and all that, but the rules issues that keep popping up, aren't. And now we have to adapt pages of errata to our books. Guess it's time to go out and buy some post it notes. Does anyone know if the pdfs they released include these corrections?
