Blinded

Hi,
Thanks, looked at that. Our DM has ruled that because you blinded and you dont know who is now between you and the enemy due to combat changing(ie allies/enemies) you cannot attack using ranged weapons or powers because it would near impossible to shoot with other people in the way.

If the situation was that you were in a large room with one enemy and no alies and then were blinded, i guess would guess what square the enemy was in. If the enemy didnt move during that round you would probably target the same square (not really sure how this works if your 100ft away). The DM is looking for some realism, which is fair enough.

Ah, okay then.

In that case:

In your game, a blinded character/creature can't target a square or enemy when using ranged attacks.

In any other game, see PHB p281, "Targeting what you can't see".

Seem so ;)

I happy to play to RAW, DM isnt. Lets say we were playing RAW.

I blind the evil spell caster and move 2 squares, i then remove my miniature from the board and note where i would be in my head. ( i woudnt want to the DM to metagame..right :). The next player has a go and want sto know where i am, maybe for flanking purposes...but this will reveal to the DM my location. :(. Anyways the DM has his go and tried to attack me by guessing my square, would this be based on a % chance or the DM just picks a square?

Unless the room is very small or i stood still the chances of being targeted a very slim anyways as per RAW. So it might be best to say you cannot target unless the situation allows the blinded creature a good chance of targeting you, ie person hasn't moved since creature was blinded or that is only a few square (say 4) that person could be in. *shrug*

He would use the rules for targeting what you can't see.

If you're having to hide your mini from the GM, your game might have larger problems than the confusing nature of the invisibility rules.

I also hide them from my kids, but thats another story. :)
I personally would prefer to use the RAW at least during the early stages of playing 4e...but im not DMing. To me this will effect more the monsters than players down the track.
Cheers

The RAW is fairly clear. Your problem doesn't seem to be a rules problem but rather a trust problem. Insisting on using the RAW doesn't insulate you from trust issues, better to fix those than argue back and forth about the RAW and their application.

As a dm id roll perception check for the blinded enemy wizard to see if he can guess more or less your direction and distance. then depending on the success of the result id roll another dice (the higher the perception roll the smaller the dice) to see which square in particular he targets and leave him correctly targetting u up to luck.
