When I first heard that they were making a "D&D Movie," I assumed that they were going to make a big-screen version of the cartoon series. When I heard that it wasn't going to be a feature-length animated film, I thought that the actors and plot would at least follow the cartoon's premise.

But alas, it was not to be. There was no Hank the Ranger, no Presto the Magician, and no Eric the Cavalier (my personal favorite.) And I'm pretty sure that even Venger could have kicked Profion's pansy posterior.

Disappointment all around.

While the series were sort of cute, the movie was downright horrible. I have never seen the second movie (didn't know it had been made), but I am about to remedy that.

The first movie is painfully bad. The only good thing about it is the soundtrack.

The second movie isn't good. It does, however, understand that it is supposed to be a made-for-tv b-movie and lives up to that role admirably.

From what I've seen of the cartoon, it was ok, but not great.

And then there's the cartoon movie of Dragonlance. The less said about it, the better.

Cartoon series by far. It's corny now, yeah, but Venger and Tiamat and Uni still beat the hell out of that atrocious movie(s) that doesn't deserve the title of D&D.

And to think of all the years of stories they could have mined instead of that drivel...

I would not go so far as to say the cartoon series is my favorite cartoon series (nor in the top 10). However, the cartoon series does have that "hey i used to watch it as a kid" home-again feeling.

In comparison to the movie (my own opinion).
The cartoon has a better story, better characters, longer entertainment (i.e. longer run time)

The ONLY thing that the movie has going for it that the cartoon does not, in my opinion, is the fact that the movie had its climatic end, where as the cartoon's final episode never got made so you don't get to see 'the ending'
