Do you always put your stat bumps in your two highest stats?

No way. I put the stat increases into the stat I want. usually one of them goes to my main attacking stat (natch) but the other goes to whichever one I want to focus on. My paladin (str based) used his 4th level boosts on Cha and Wis (bring them to 14 and 16). The 18 I had in Str was working just fine so i didn't bother raising it but the extra lay on hands use and boosting my Divine Challenge damage was much sexier to me.

I have, BUT I always keep my prim stat at atleast the amount I would have if I started with a 16 and bumped it every time...

what does this mean...well if I start with a 20, I feel there is at most 4 levels worth of bumps I could skip ( but I will most likly only skip 1 or 2).

How ever my second point per 4 levels might go anywhere...infact I often don't put more then half my ups into one stat...

I always put my stat bonuses into my highest score, since there's pretty much nothing I could possibly get from a secondary ability score that's more important than hitting more.

But as for my second stat bonus? That can go anywhere that I think will give me value. Some classes really rely on their secondary ability scores, but others don't.

Plus, my group has decided to avoid the point buy arms race by just using a standard array of 16/14/13/12/11/10. This means that my characters start the game with two odd ability scores, which might be worth boosting at some point to even them out.

I dm waaay more than I play, but I usually put my bumps where it feels right for the character. I would say that on average, about half of my bumps go to primary stats.

I always bump my primary, every time. But the other I do whatever's convenient. Usually that does work out to all but 1 or 2 points go into the secondary, while the others might secure feats or a high enough bonus for certain other things.

I think I am loke most posters. One of the two bumps always goes to my main stat, butthe second one generally evens out odd numbers on abilities that will give me a nice bonus.

Unless the class has several useful secondary stats (wizard, fighter), it's two stats all the way. My Shaman, for example, needs both Wis and Con as high as they'll go. Likewise, Str and Con were just the best stats to boost for my Barbarian, even though other NADs suffered.

In general, yes I do place them in the two highest scores unless I have an overriding reason not to bump them (perhaps if I'm a rogue or something I might think about it).
