Water Problems [DM: Voda Vosa; Judge: Kalidrev!]

Myoko eyed the shorter spear dubiously for a few moments before strapping it across her back beside her javelins. It wasn't her preferred weapon, but it might be useful in the cramped tunnels- or the acid those creatures could spit might damage other weapons...

OOC: We just have to find someone with a Transfer Enchantment ritual, I guess.

The assorted group of mercenaries approach the tunnel. Myoko and Frost can fit in quite easily, and even Vardaal, leaning forward can get in. But Torqua and Kavac are a different story. Neither of them can very well get into it, being as round and big as they are. But also, neither will give up so easily.
Frost scouts a few meters ahead, and finds out that the tunnel gets wider, so Torqua uses her magic to "gently" open a bigger hole. Luckily, the tunnel doesn't collapse, and seems pretty solid, due to the moisture of the near water.

The group crawls his way, and after about half an hour of crawling, the hear a def noise. Kavac looks back, and to his horror, he sees no more light from the entrance. Torqua's spell might be taking it's toll on the tunnel perhaps?
The Goliath hurries the others, as he sees the sand collapsing right behind him!

[sblock=Skill challenge]
Roll athletic or endurance as primary skills to save yourselves from the falling sand of the collapsing tunnel!
As before, DC is 15. If you fail more than 3 times, you are trapped in the collapsing tunnel, if you succeed 5 or more times, then you reach a safe area.
You can make all the rolls at once, or one at a time, your call[/sblock]

Myoko turned for a moment to see what the goliath was warning them about, and as she turned back to run, her spear got caught for a moment in the soft earthen wall of the tunnel. With a heave, she ripped the weapon free and rushed forward, moving at a good pace despite the conditions...

OOC: Rolling in groups of three; First set (Athletics, +9) = 12, 25, 27 (1 fail, 2 success), rolls Roll Lookup ; Second set (Athletics +9)= 21, 22, 17 (3 successes, 5 total, challenge passed), rolls Roll Lookup

The tunnel collapses over Torqua Vardaal and Kavac! Just in time, Frost and Myoko made it to safety, crawling fast enough to escape the falling sand.

The tunnel closes behind the two mercenaries, completly obliterating the exit. Both find themselves in pitch black, but apparently in an open space. When a torch is lit, it reveals a cavern, about two meters tall and several meters long. The cave extends a lot ahead from their position, away from the light of the torch. The walls seem solid enough as not to collapse anytime soon.

[sblock=Torqua Vardaal and Kavac] As they feel the overwhelming pressure of several meters of sand over their bodies, they feel as the ground underneath them crumbles. The three bulky mercenaries fall in a wide cave. First Kavac, then Vardaal, and at last Torqua lands her massive weight over the two barbarians. The three find themselves in pitch black, but apparently in an open space. When a torch is lit, it reveals a cavern quite wide and moisty, with water driping from the walls. The ground is muddy, and the freshness of the air inside is refreshing. The roof of the cave is about 5 or 6 meters above the ground, and sand still penetrates through the hole the three adventurers leaved. The boundaries of the cave still remain away from sight, covered in black shadows.

[sblock=Frost, GM] Myoko took a quick look at their new surroundings, but was not reassured. At least there weren't any more of those bugs visible- but who could tell what the darkness of the tunnel might hold... "Looks like we'll need your keen senses," she said to Frost. "I can carry a light if you need both hands to fight."

OOC: It looks like neither Frost nor Myoko is carrying an actual torch, and only Frost has sunrods- though I suppose an improvised torch isn't too much to ask. If not, we'll have to use a sunrod. Is there any sign of where the tunnel was, or any chance we could dig back towards it? Or is the tunnel ahead the only choice? If we move out, Myoko will carry whatever light source we use, and will use the new +1 spear one-handed- she'll drag her longspear on a line behind her for now if that option is needed. [/sblock]

The bugbear gets up rubbing his right shoulder "OK, it official. I hate this land of no-ratberry pie. I can't see far, holds on. Let me fix that." Vardaal declares as he pulls out a sunrod from his pack and lights the device looking around.

ooc - sunrod is bright light for 20 squares
