To Catch a Crimelord, or Down the Rabbit Hole (garyh judging)

Carolina continues nervously. "Rumor has it they've been seen wandering the desert for countless years, maybe even into undeath. 'Twas all a plot by the shaman, and now that the villagers are dead and gone, he's magicked the king into servitude. Imagine that, a king turned to a servant!" she chuckles.

"Uh, not that your own priests would ever thinking of tricking his majesty, m'lord."

Georg sees where the successful arguments are coming from and chimes in. Corruption is like flaws in gems, you have to look carefully to see it. It can ruin a seam in the mine like a red rust among rich iron. So might the influence of a fiend hide among the faithful.

Grim silently curses his leaden tongue and redoubles his efforts to help his companions. "Majesty, you can see that I am more brawn than brain, but I have learned to trust the counsel of these friends of mine. My experience lies in the woods and in stealth, but these" he indicates Kruk and Raiyek with a nod "have proved wise in the ways of faith."

Aid Another (1d20=20)

lol. I'm sensing a trend here- aid another rolls go high. Maybe I should just go for straight untrained diplomacy. :heh: [/sblock]

Kruk, finally understanding Raiyek's point, chimes in "I've never been able to fully trust a priest. Something about them gives me the creeps. Well, that's my opinion anyway...take it for what it's worth."

OOC: Aide Raiyek's roll.

[sblock=bump]
Georg generates a success. Grim succeeds on aid another. Kruk might or might not (no roll linked).

Also, for those aiding please list who and what skill you are aiding. Still need actions from Carolina, Raiyek, and Lily.

7 successes so far... if all three of you make it, you complete the challenge.

Carolina trails off, appearing to be talking more to herself than the king, but loud enough for him to hear. "I feel bad for the poor git, really. Imagine goin' down into legend as the incompetent buffoon who got all his people killed!"

ooc: I forgot to make a roll for aiding Raiyek. I see on IC that you made a roll for me. Just make that one count. I was stupid enough to post a move without posting a roll

Though she could see it was having an effect Lily was beginning to grow uneasy with the defamation of the high priest, given that they knew nothing about him. While the others spoke to the dwarven king she closed her eyes and opened her ears to hear the advice of the ancient spirits that were drawn to her. After a moment Lily's eyes snapped open and she turned to address the king once more.

Your Majesty,please consider, even if there is no ill intention hiding in your halls it may be that the situation has been misunderstood. There may be other causes that lie outside the understanding of your priests and that pursuing your present course may have terrible consequences. For instance the calamities you are experiencing could be caused by arcane meddling!

Lily launched into a long and complicated explanation of the methods and means of how such foul sorcery might be accomplished through the agency of man rather than deity.

[sblock=ooc]

I'll take a shot at using an unlisted skill (arcana) to explain how their trouble might have other causes rather than the one they believe.

Use Speak with Spirits.

Raiyek bows again to the dwarven lord. "Your Majesty, I can see your patience for our speculation grows thin," the elf says apologetically. "I beseech you to allow us to investigate on your behalf - subtly and discreetly, of course. There is only so much that speculation can do; more information will be needed before anyone can draw any conclusions."
