Mythic Vistas: Best Books?

Knightfall

World of Kulan DM
I haven't delved too much into the Mythic Vistas product line. I just recently ordered a copy of the Hamunaptra boxed set through a local store. (I was lucky to get it.) Plus, I also have Misfit Studios' SpirosBlaak [and The Black Company hardcover]. (Is the Mindshadows monster book connected to MV? I have it as well but I'm not sure where it is right now.)

The quality of Hamunaptra has made me wonder about the rest of the Mythic Vistas line.

Someone suggested the Medieval Player's Manual on my Avalanche Press thread, so I'm keen on learning about that one as well as Eternal Rome and Skull & Bones.

I'm not as interested in Testament, and I've already looked at Trojan War several times. (I'm still not sure about that one... besides I now have Relics & Rituals: Olympus.) :D
  • Eternal Rome
  • Medieval Player's Manual *
  • Skull & Bones
  • Testament: Roleplaying in the Biblical Era
  • Trojan War
As always, all opinions and suggestions are welcome.

Cheers!

If you don't already have it, I recommend getting Mindshadows since you have the monster book. Very psionic oriented and worth it.

Get them all.

Ditto. I liked every single one of them.
Heh. :p

The reality is that when it comes to the main Mystic Vistas product line, I could probably "get them all."

However, I'm wondering which of those I've listed would be the best first choice. Also, is the Medieval Player's Manual like a player's handbook? Is it required to use the other books? Or is each book self contained?

Plus, how useful would these books be for a homebrewed world?

Mindshadows! That was one of the other MV books I was trying to think of. Thanks for the reminder, Steve.

How many other MV books, by 3PPs, are there out there, print or PDF?

Out of them all (& I loved this line!), I liked Skull & Bones first and foremost, followed swiftly by Testament and the Medieval Player's Manual. What I liked about the line was the ability to tweak the core rules to better reflect the realities and inherent possibilities of each of the settings so that the felt both somewhat like a broad-eyed view of history coupled with a truly engaging fantasy game. :)
