Pathfinder 1E Trailblazing Pathfinder

Any opinions on how the Trailblazer's system optimizer interacts/affects the Pathfinder RPG by Paizo? PCs from both systems, for example, are more powerful than their 3.x counterparts.

I'm equally curious. Moreso, I'd like to see an analysis/contrasting of the Trailblazer and Pathfinder classes.

Hmm, I'm almost interesting in breaking it down myself . . . Not sure if my analytical skills are up to par though . . .

I think you just need to pick which classes you like better.

If you like Pathfinder classes better, then I'd take the Action Points, AP Enhancements, 10 Minute Rest, Combat Reactions, and Iterative Attacks from Trailblazer.

If you like Trailblazer classes better, then you get all of the above, plus Multiclass Spellcasters, and you use Pathfinder for the spells, monsters, and adventures (at least until such time as we fill the holes for spells and monsters).

Pathfinder has more magic than Trailblazer and retains the 3e style of player empowerment.

Trailblazer is lower magic (but still high power), and rolls back player empowerment, returning it to the DM in the freewheeling style of 1e.

Hmm. Has anyone actually combined Trailblazer and Pathfinder?

I like the Action Points, AP Enhancements, 10 Minute Rest, Combat Reactions, and Iterative Attacks from Trailblazer.

The only thing I'm thinking about for more combining, is applying Trailblazer's Multiclass Spellcaster system to Pathfinder, and asigning BMB Bonuses to all the classes. (Scrapping the PF Magic Progressions for each spell once they are given Progressions close to them from Trailblazer)

I imagine Wulf would give the best advice for this one. :)

Sounds like you have a good handle on things. Not sure how much more help we can be.

I think the only real "advice" we have given is that you should choose one set of classes or the other.

I'm not a PF expert by any means but in my view, PF bumped up the power level of all the classes and rewards staying single-classed. TB, on the other hand, brought the most powerful classes down a notch (druid, cleric) and brought the other classes up. The Action Point system then provides a boost to all the classes, especially since we recommend not allowing item creation. It's a subtle balance, and one not immediately recognized on paper.

If you use the PF classes and Action Points, you are going to have some very potent characters.

You'll also find some mechanical differences between the two systems - some subtle, some not - but you may have to hunt for them. Overall, I think we made more changes to the 3.5 system than PF did.

Other than that, feel free to mix-and-match. That's kind of the point!

Hmm.

Mostly I was thinking Pathfinder classes, but add in the multiclass caster system, combine both fighter classes (or just use yours), and combine both rogues.

Alright. I'll work on my chimera a bit more.

Am I the only one who wants to take a bunch of the trailblazer features and mesh them heavily with pathfinder?

Nope. I've thought about them, too. (I've suggested a few in the Houserules thread.) However, I'm going to try 3.x with TB and get player input first.

Looking at the classes, I'm far more favored towards Trailblazer's work. But I'm curious about the reverse, Pathfindering Trailblazer, to turn the phrase. :)

Is there anything in the Pathfinder system worth bringing over to the Trailblazer toolbox of 3.x fixes?

Spells?, 'k, I can see that as the Trailblazer guys haven't touched upon it yet. Is there some innovation the Trailblazer guys didn't offer something for that Pathfinder did well enough to bring over?
