Never subscribed, and cannot see myself ever doing so. Also have not really ever even tried, though I used the demo version once or twice.

DDI just does nothing I am not capable of doing on my own.

I know you typically don't use the DDI, but for the cost of a 1 month sub, the offline CB is quite handy even with its bugs (I feel like one of the late night marketing program guys "Get it now! Supplies are running out! We can't keep up this deal forever!). At the very least it is a decent reference rather than pulling out 8 different rule books. Now, this assumes you allow all the "core" rules (being the hardcover books).

Believe me, I know. But why sub if I am not going to use it?

All the rule books I allow in my games, I own, and all the DDI Dragon stuff and other splatbooks I don't own I don't allow.

I admit, it would probably make finding feats or powers easier, but it is still a few steps to do so, starting with waiting for he program to turn on.

Yes. I am thinking this would give a pretty high estimate of % subsribing.

Yes, I agree. The poll is self-selecting, as all polls are, so you are gonna get people who love DDI, and those who feel they must be a dissenting voice/vote (like me)

Still the poll's results are interesting, especially the almost even split of those who currently subscribe and those who used to. I would be curious to know how many people recently quit (last ten days) or quit earlier.

Have been since the beginning, and have no intention of quitting.

Good value, and ever-increasing utility (not a Mac user, but definately prefer online tools over installed programs).

at the moment, no i don't (nor have i ever).

However, this choice was more so due to my financial situation

But if ...
* i get disposable income at some point
* and i am playing D&D with some frequency
* and at that time feel like it will hold some value for me with what i would vs. wouldn't use

then, yes, i will subscribe.

I've been a subscriber for 2 years, and my sub runs at least another year.

One reason I put up this poll is a reference I saw to the number of people who are part of the DDI subscriber group: 41700 and some change.

Whoops! Browser Settings Incompatible

To the extent that this reflects the number of people who do subscribe, that does not seem like a huge number. Probably in line with past Dragon subsriptions, a big number for any other rpg, and--it could--mean ~ 3 mil $ a year in revenue (ok, I guess that is pretty good, though if it includes a lot of one and dones then the amount will be far less) but not so great given that hundreds of thousands of people are supposed to be playing 4E.

From past comments of WotC employees (IIRC Trevor and/or mudbunny) the DDI group consists of DDI subscribers who also have a WotC forum account, so this group is (much?) smaller than the number of actual subscribers.

yes I am an annual subsciber from day one and plan to continue. Like others I have concerns, but not enough to warrant stooping my service.

As a side note at the end of my last 4E session (our group divides time for PF, 3.5 and 4E) there was a huge stack of 3.5 books on the floor under the table. Over a foot high. I asked about it and one of the playes said he was building his next 3.5 character and was using them for reference.

So for all of the CB haters. I still think the online CB is better than the 3.5 one. I just don't have the time to sit down and sort through all of the books and errata to do that anymore. There was a time when that was part of the enjoyment of playing, but with all of life's demands, I will take 4e and any CB any day of the week.

Beat me to it. The actual number of subscribers is most likely somewhere between double and quintuple the number of group members. I don't know a single subscriber who has a forum account there, or for that matter here or at RPGnet.
