Creature Catalogue Overhaul Project Revisited

10 ft, 20 ft, and 10 ft for the vortex top width, max, and min heights?

I think the way we've phrased the whirlwind SQ/SA, we can drop the touch attack.

I do like the original's "single target only" whirlwind attack, whereby a new victim knocks the old one out. Can I persuade you'all to keep it?

Are we doing anything with the "becoming effectively invisible inside the cone of air" bit?

I can go along with something like swallowed whole, where it can hold so many critters of a given size in the whirlwind. How would that be?

We might also want to reduce the max size of the victims from Huge.

Do we need the invisible bit if it transforms into the whirlwind?

I'm slowly bringing you round...

One Medium or Large, 4 Small, 16 Tiny, 64 Diminutive or smaller?

Do we need the invisible bit if it transforms into the whirlwind?

I think we do, yes, to honour the original. Maybe not the full +20/40, but at least Hide In Plain Sight and a hefty Hide bonus.

Those numbers are ok.

See, I disagree on the invisibility. The whirlwind itself isn't invisible, just the "thing" inside (in the original text). Using the 3.5 ability, there is nothing inside the whirlwind, just the whirlwind itself.

Yes, but a Vortex doesn't turn into a whirlwind though, it creates one by whirling around real fast.

You know, I'm feeling a Cleon Special coming along here...

The previous vortex created the whirlwind by spinning real fast. But that's not what we decided to do by following 3.X precedent. Are you saying you'd rather rewrite the whole whirlwind ability?

Well since you asked, yes I'd rather have it based on the Vortex's original attack. :)

Oy, the only real difference is whether there's a critter in the center of the whirlwind which turns invisible or not, right? (Aside from some things we agreed to drop.) So why not just keep the 3.X version?
