Giving Bard Disable Device

As for Trapfinding... give it to him only until there is a rogue in the party (but let him keep Disable Device). So he won't step on any roguish toes when/if one is available.

The Auld Grump, be sure to let the players know, don't surprise him by taking away the ability.

We gave the bard trapfinding and Disable Device as a house rule. Also gave them to the Ranger, Inquisitor, and Ninja. Haven't been any problems from doing so. Very few people play a rogue to be the trap finder. It also makes it so you can take rogue archetypes that elminate trapfinding without having to sweat losing it for the party.

You could just let him take a feat that gives him DD as a class skill and trapfinding as a rogue. I don't think that would be unbalanced for a feat, since the Cosmopolitan feat gives two bonus class skills and two bonus languages.

If there isn't a rogue in the party, this is a non-issue. Give the kid the abilities. Make him spend a feat or a couple of traits if fairness is a concern.
