Special Conversion Thread: Lycanthropes and their ilk

There's a wereweasel in the base abilities score line, but otherwise it looks good.

Them wereweasels are sneaky little critters, always getting in where they don't belong.

No great ideas on flavor, but tactics ought to include something about getting spooked into a stampede.

I'm wondering whether we shouldn't alter the Stampede so they can do it deliberately in whatever direction they fancy.

These are intelligent beings, after all.

I'd definitely agree with an "intelligent stampede." I guess that's essentially just changing stampede to trample.

Trample (Ex): 1d6+13?, Reflex half DC X. The save DC is Strength-based.

I was thinking more rewording Stampede so it wasn't random, e.g.:

Stampede (Ex): As a charge action, a herd of werebison in animal form can literally run over anything of Large size or smaller that gets in their way, dealing 1d12 points of damage for each five werebison in the herd (Reflex DC 22 half). The save DC is Strength-based.

I prefer the trample, since it seems odd to need to encounter a group of lycanthropes that large. I suppose I could go for both, though.

We could cut down the trample damage; since they don't have a slam attack, we get to choose. Would something like 1d2 + 1/2 Str work?

The stampede you have now is pretty good, too. I don't have a problem with large numbers of werebison, given that they are herd animals after all.

I'm a little torn; the lycanthrope ability should basically be the same as the animal's, but trample is a standardized mechanic....

Well, I guess a Slam is pretty close to Unarmed Strike, and an ordinary Large humanoid would have a 1d4 + Str Unarmed Strike...

I prefer the idiosyncratic Trample. :)
