Special Conversion Thread: Lycanthropes and their ilk

The SRD wereboar does claw/claw/gore with cursed gore in hybrid form.
The wererat doesn't seem to get claws at all in hybrid form.

In any case, I think there's precedent. It's just that the template isn't written very well.

So are we using claw/claw/gore or slam/slam/gore?

It makes little difference to me, so I'll let you pick. :p

Shouldn't the org be "herd" and not "pack"? Just noticed that.

Tactics: Werebison are typically non-aggressive but are ferocious when defending their herd. Individuals charge into melee, usually in hybrid form, while the bulk of the herd gathers and prepares to stampede to freedom.

The SRD Lycanthrope Template uses pack, but I don't mind changing it to herd if you prefer it.

Come to think of it, Dragon #40 says they are "usually found near a herd of buffalo (60%)", so the Org ought to be...

Organization: Solitary, or pack herd? (6-10) or troupe (6-10 plus 6-30 bison)

Tactics: Werebison are typically non-aggressive but are ferocious when defending their herd. Individuals charge into melee, usually in hybrid form, while the bulk of the herd gathers and prepares to stampede to freedom.

The original description says a Werebison "has a temperament like a wereboar", meaning they are aggressive.

How about:

COMBAT

Werebison are bad-tempered and usually charge anyone who threatens them or their herd. Individuals charge into melee, usually in hybrid form, or the bulk of the herd gathers and stampedes to freedom.

Hmmm. Here's what wikipedia says about bison:
The bison's temperament is often unpredictable. They usually appear peaceful, unconcerned, even lazy, yet they may attack anything, often without warning or apparent reason. They can move at speeds of up to 35 mph (56 km/h) and cover long distances at a lumbering gallop.
Why not this?

COMBAT

Werebison seem lackadaisical, but their appearance can be misleading. While it is hard to predict their attitude, they usually charge anyone who threatens them or their herd. Individuals charge into melee, usually in hybrid form, or the bulk of the herd gathers and stampedes to freedom.

How's this for a compromise...

Werebisons are unpredictable creatures who often have bad tempers. They usually appear peaceful, even lackadaisical, but sometimes attack without warning or apparent reason. A werebison will fight to the death to defend itself or its herd. They prefer to charge into melee, usually in hybrid form, or the bulk of the herd gathers and stampedes to freedom.
