Selyse Baratheon - Game of Thrones Wiki

She's in it, but only briefly; blink and you'll miss her.

As for her being sick, gotta understand the mentality of the setting rather than applying modern logic and mores. She can't bear healthy children so she's 'sickly'. Given how tied royals are to their progeny, and given Melisandre's hotness, it's only logical Stannis would go for it. What annoyed me was how quickly and easily he fell to her charms. I felt that could've been played out at least over one more episode.

I think the books don't have her as somebody who had just lured Stannis into temptation, and "bang", she was his mistress. She had been there for a while (I think she was mentioned in passing in the first book) as Stannis' "advisor". I think her "in" was through Selyse, but even that wasn't overnight. Mel had gotten several other converts among local lords and ladies as well...

And here I thought the episode had been outsourced to Skinamax .

well, Skinamax is more for movies. HBO nudity is from their various series' - The Sopranos had all those trips to the Bada Bing club. Heck, I remember a lot of nudity from their old show "Dream On" from the early to mid 90s. Heck, I know some people were surprised that HBO missed a chance to show naked breasts when
they showed previews of Dany in Qarth and her gown covered both of her breasts - the book has the Qarth women wearing a dress that exposes one breast.

Yeah, I'm just talking about the TV show. There was nothing indicating that Melisandre had been there very long. From a viewer's perspective, she could've been there all of a day or ten years, we don't know. So all we've seen is some cranky old lord who bangs some slutty little court whore. Without having read the books, the audience has no idea of Melisandre's motives or her cunning manipulation of Lord Stannis. It's all a bit... sudden.

Because of that, I felt it lost any impact it could've had. It really needed some more exposition on their relationship and how she's insinuated herself into his court. Without that it just fell flat and had virtually no meaning beyond, "Hot chick gets boinked on table."

The writing has been pretty good so far, so I am guessing that they will use some expository scene between Stannis and Selyse that will outline how long Melisandre has been there and that Selyse may regret bringing her into the fold (so to speak). This seems to be the way they have explained things that were written or took place off screen in the books. Ten episodes isn't a lot of time to cram all this information in.

I also noticed that the scene with Theon arriving at Iron Isles happened quite differently than the books. Asha (Yara) was actually out on a ship when he arrived and his uncle took him to Pyke.

[Seinfeld]Not that there's anything wrong with that.[/Seinfeld]

Sad that I'm missing this 'cause I don't have HBO. We got the DVDs and watched last month; now it's a year wait. Wish they made the episodes available on someplace like iTunes a month or so later.

Yeah, torrents, but ...
