Half daemon template

Since not all fiends are created equal, I thought I'd take a stab at modifying the half fiend template to a half daemon template.

All abilities are as per half fiend template, except where noted.

Creating a Half-Daemon

“Half-Daemon is an inherited or acquired template that can be added to a
living, corporeal creature with an Int score of 4 or more. A half-fiend uses all
the base creature's statistics and special abilities except as noted here.

CR: HD 4 or less, as base creature +1; HD 5 to 10, as base creature +2; HD 11 or more, as base creature +3.

Alignment: Neutral evil.

Type: The creature's type changes to outsider (native). Do not recalculate HD, BAB, or saves.

Armor Class: Natural armor bonus improves by +1.

Defenses/Qualities: Gains Deathwatch, constant. Darkvision 60 feet; immunity to death, disease poison; acid, cold, electricity, and fire resistance 10; DR 5/magic (if HD 11 or less) or 10/magic (if HD 12 or more); and SR equal to creature's CR + 11 (maximum 35).

Speed: Unless the base creature flies better, the half-fiend flies at twice the base creature's land speed (good).

Melee: A half-Daemon gains two claw attacks and a bite attack. Damage depends on its size.

Special Attacks: A half-Daemon gains the following.

Smite Good (Su)
Once per day, as a swift action, the half-Daemon can smite good as the smite evil ability of a paladin of the same level as the half-daemon’s Hit Dice, except affecting a good target. The smite persists until target is dead or the half-Daemon rests.

Spell-Like Abilities: A half-Daemon with an Int or
Wis score of 8 or higher has a cumulative number of spell-like abilities set by its HD. Unless otherwise noted, an ability is usable 1/day. CL equals the creature's HD (or the CL of the base creature's spell-like abilities, whichever is higher).

Abilities: A half-Daemon gains a +4 bonus on three ability scores of its choice and a +2 bonus on the other three.

Skills: A half-Daemon with racial HD has skill points
per racial HD equal to 6 + Int mod. Racial class skills are unchanged, and class level skill ranks are unaffected.

*note that spell-like abilities have no material components, making unhallow and soul bind actually feasible.

Notes:

A summoned cacodaemon can, once per day, create a soulgem from a recently slain creature, which can be eaten by an outsider to damn the soul and gain fast healing 2 with a duration dependant on the power of the soul.

An astrodaemon's soul siphon stacks with itself (so a half fiend on a killing spree could continuously gain bonuses to str and bonus temporary hp).


Overall...the template was designed with a focus on daemonic interests... Those of disease, war, famine (interpreted as daemonic hunger for souls), and death. (As well as pure evil.)

You should check out the Blood of Fiends Companion book and the Book of the Damned Vol 3

They did really help, thanks. I actually have read both of them, but pored over them again, and while I didn't find many new changes I wanted to make to the template, I reread the template in the vein of BotD V3 and like what I have (suggestions to make it better, of course, are always welcome...I'm not claimin' it's perfect!)

But I WAS able to find some really neat traits for the character I'm planning to use for this. I'll share em, as they're appropriate for a half daemon (just take the "extra traits" feat.

Soul Eater (coup de grace for extra hp).
Infernal bastard (with the "message" spell). (bonus to elemental energy saves, message at will).
 

I definitely did like it!

But could you tweak it a bit for a Half-Div? I'm not sure what would go out, though... it can't clash with Div-sorcerer bloodline or I'm screwed (since I want to make a Kohai of Blasphemy). You know what would complement it greatly? Any damage-dealing spell that can affect an area. There's none in both the sorceror bloodlne and your daemon ones... *sad face*
