D&D 5E Everything aboot 5E looks boring.

1) I don't see how having an extra +1 to +3 due to DM discretion is ambiguous.

2) Not true, you can take default array.

3) Well, that's personal, and 4th Ed specific, after DMing 4th Ed for 10 sessions or so, I grew to despise the AEDU format.

4) I love it, no more +37 to hit and such malarkey,
It sounds like you're trying to convince me of something. If so, say so.

If not, kudos, 5e sounds like your kind of game.

+1 to +3 enhancement from magic item
+1 to +3 from stat boost
+1 to +3 from random items that just add to attack value cause someone doesn't know how to design well

Soon enough you've shifted the d20 goal posts, and I sincerely hope they're actually thinking about it.

Classes don't have a common AEDU structure. (Yeah I know 4e already regressed this way; I don't play or allow E classes.)

If this bother you, I can save you a lot of time. Ignore 5e, it's not your game, because this is not going to happen. Others of your concerns, maybe will change during the playtest, and finish being in the actual books looking closer to what you like. This, will not.

Oh, I'm not losing any sleep over the issue. :) I'm perfectly happy to not buy D&D books for the next 5ish years.

Oh, so now we're playing 20 questions. Okay...

Is it a person?
Is it a place?
Is it a thing?

Oh I know! It's an edition warrior who just can't let it go.

Please, I am really not an edition warrior, I have DMed and enjoyed 4th Ed extensively; come on, you kinda come off as the edition warring type, so, man-up, and account, or did you just throw those 3 things out there hoping they wold go unnoticed?

Whether or not you are an edition warrior, you're making this personal, which is something we pretty much constantly warn people against. Ad hominem is probably not a way you want to go, here.

So, let us stop making it personal. We now expect everyone to drop this little tangent like a hot rock. Got it, everyone? Good. We now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion.

You may be happy, but WotC /needs your money/! 5e is the edition for everyone, if it's not for you, it's already failing just a little teeny bit in that goal, when it's hardly even started.

I don't have any xp to give you for the George Carlin reference, but here's a smiling virtual Buddy Jesus for you:
