D&D 5E Halfling Rogue Actions During a Turn - Hiding, Advantage, and Sneak Attacks

I found this:

@VerysArkon : When does "hidden" end? As soon as a creatures moves into line-of-sight from behind cover or after the ranged attack is made?
@mike Mearls: As soon as the creature is fully visible or attacks - DM judgment on visibility (ex: sniper hiding behind a corner).

"Fully" visible or attacks seems to be a key statement (as does DM judgement).

Yeah, if you stay hidden and attack (like attacking from darkness) you are good but since the halfling revealed himself before taking the shot then it requires a DM ruling to get advantage.

This is where the halfling Lightfoot's naturally stealthy ability comes into play . He can hide behind a medium sized ally for advantage.

Yes he can hide there but if he pops out he is no longer hidden. They are leaving it to DMs to decide if the target is distracted enough to not see the halfling in that moment he pops out.

Thanks Melkor, that was the tweet I was talking about. It looks like another "DM's call based on common sense" ruling, which I think is wonderful (unless you have a crappy DM!).

Is it possible for the low level Halfling Rogue to use two weapons in melee for the potential D6+3 main plus D6 off hand plus D6 sneak attack?

When looking quickly through the rules, I couldn't find any restrictions on the two weapon use. The short bow scenario is D6+3 main plus D6 sneak attack. Two weapon seems stronger (although he would have to get into melee that way, but is that really a problem?).

It certainly appears to be possible, and a pretty good option.

Particularly with good use of the rogue's cunning action ability (which would allow the rogue to dart in and out of melee with little chance of being tagged).

Except Cunning Action and an offhand attack both require the bonus action, don't they? So the rogue can't do both in the same round.

1 bonus action and 1 sneak attack, but the off hand does give you a chance to hit (with the sneak attack) if the first attack misses.

So, lets say you start hidden and throw two daggers--I think you can do that--are you seen after the first one?

Hmm I would say that once the enemy get's hit they need to do a preception roll to see if they know where the shot came from. I know it isn't too good to use a real life example but if someone dashes out from a hidden place and throws something at you, it usually takes awhile before you attempt to look at who threw something at you since you are a bit surprised.

Yes.

"If you are hidden - both unseen and unheard - when you make an attack, you give away your location when the attack hits or misses." - page 73, Basic Rules.

Cheers!
