Another few questions for you (with my heartfelt thanks)

1) what does the Sailor background grant?
2) does the Sorcerer metamagic skill "Twinned" say anything specific about cantrips, or does it simply state "you can spend a number of sorcery points equal to the spells level to..."?
3) does the Sorcerer metamagic skill "Careful" have wording similar to Evocation Wizard's "Sculpt Spells" (specifically in regards to "taking no damage if they would normally take half damage")?

How do summoned monsters and animal companions work? Do they act independently or do you have to spend some of your actions to command them?

From ranger, it takes your action to command your beast companion to Attack, Dash, Disengage, Dodge, or Help. No action (on your turn) to have it move.

Assassin's get Assassinate (advantage against someone who has not acted in combat), Death Strike (17th level, save or double damage vs. surprised creature).

Any chance you could ditch the blue font?

Its very hard to read on the legacy style.

And thanks for all the info.

Does the Sorcerer still have the "Twinned Spell" metamagic, and is it still worded such that it can be applied for free to cantrips?

That's one from the alpha that seemed concerning -- similar to Overchannel with cantrips, but available at level 3 rather than level 14. Though it probably still wouldn't get a Sorcerer up to the DPR level of a great weapon Fighter.

Twinned Spell costs 1 sorcery point for cantrips.

Which Pantheons are in the Appendix B? Any evil deities listed (Set, Lolth, etc)? Do they have any *special* domains? (IE not in the PHB like Death?)

Similarly, what's the Planes of Existence in Appendix C?

Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, Dragonlance, Eberron, Nonhuman Deities, Celtic, Greek, Egyptian, Norse. Includes evil deities. Death domain is the only one not included in the PHB.

Appendix C shows the new cosmology for D&D, mixture of the great Wheel and the 4e cosmology. Hard to explain, sorry, you will need to see the book when it comes out.

Thanks again for doing this.

So, here's a big one ... is Polymorph in the game? Other shapechanging spells outside of the Druid's wildshape? And how do they look, if they exist?

ETA: Because I've been lurking on the 2-Weapon fighting debate ... do any of the Battlemaster's maneuvers require two weapons? Do any maneuvers require specific weapons?

Yes, there is a polymorph spell. There are a few others, apologies, I have not glanced much at spells.

Maneuvers are generally universal, though some of them are melee specific (as opposed to ranged).
