official launch is tomorrow so I am guessing its up then

As the thread winds down . . .

It already is tomorrow in Australia, and Japan.
Oh, England as well. Also the US East Coast. August 8 has arrived in most of the world.

Soon, the forums will be flooded with people who have the book -- and they will progressively be posting less about what is in the book and more about why it should be something else.

Topics change, the subject remains the same.

Question: is there a limit of how many rings a character can have (except the usual 10, since they have but 10 fingers)? It was something that was missing from the Basics and something that has been tickling my brain xD

If the ring requires attunement you are limited to 3 attuned items at a time. If not, presumably you could use more.

I know, right!? The Warlock is really shaping up to be interesting both mechanically and thematically. I really like that they have "Warlock-only" spells, like Arms of Hadar and Hex. The Hexblade is definitely baked into the class.

Too many character ideas, too few campaigns to play them in!

Are Hex, Arms of Hadar and Armour of Agatha warlock only, or also on the wizard list?

found something very interesting in the hoard of the dragon queen

Supplements: you can play this adventure with just the basic rules and the tyranny of dragons appendix online, which contains all the monsters and magic items not described in this book. Both supplements are available free downloads from dungeonsanddragons.com

guess we will have something to download tomorrow :D

SWEEEEEEET ;)

I think every class gets one good (Dex, Con, Wis) save, and one not-so-good (Str, Int, Cha) save.

Strength saves are used to resist forced movement, so it seems like a decent choice of a not-so-good save for the monk.

Dex can be used to resist forced movement, prone, and grapple as well with acrobatics. However only Str provides a bonus to actually do those three things though Athletics.

I doubt the PHB mentions anything about it, but according to last I heard from design intent, there should be no particular limit other than what a person could realistic have on them. You could wear 20 rings if you really wanted to (though you can only benefit from 3 items that requirement attunement).

Someone, a few I think, asked about Monk Unarmed damage increasing. The latest versions I saw had them starting with 1d6 and going to 1d12, but I heard that 1st level Monk Unarmed damage was now 1d4 which is a travesty if true. So I am adding my voice to the question of how does Monk Unarmed damage scale now.

Also I don't remember anyone asking about the Champion Fighter's Survivor ability at 18th level. How does that work now? With all the nerfs to Fighter and Monk since the playtest I am kind of worried.
