D&D 5E The Fall of Blackmoor (IC)

*Ya gotta be kidding me* Kini thought as he saw what was wrapped in the leaves being passed around. *Guess I gotta do it* He picked up the fattest grub and looked briefly into its eyes. *It's not a grub, it's just a hunk of cheese. A very weird-looking hunk of cheese. Don't think about it* He popped it into his mouth, closed his eyes and chewed. *hunk of cheese - hunk of cheese - hunkacheese - hunkacheese cheese cheese cheese grub* almost gagged *cheesecheesecheese*

Wiping a bit of grubjuice from his chin, he opened his eyes and said offhandedly, "not bad. A bit on the bitter side, though. Could use a bit of tomato sauce".

OOC: Love it, Skar. You have no idea how many memories this brings back.

Jacobim stays relatively quiet during the trip, observing the scout woman when she is in view.

Around the campfire, he barely eats the provisions. When the nuts and grubs come his way, he nods a thanks to Ngoya, and sample the wild food. `This is definitely better than what we brought!` He says jokingly, in appreciation.

Jacobim is pleasant with his comrades in arms, while regularly asking Andus for updates when applicable. He doesn't volunteer conversation, but will chit-chat when prompted.

When setting-up camp, he did no manual work since it is beneath him. However, he contributed by multiple castings of mage hand and prestigitation, to clean up the area, to help heat the food and to improve the taste of the dinner. When night sets, he also cast light, prestigitation and minor illusion to entertain his comrades. Who knows how long this trip will last... chances will be lower that someone slits my throat in the night if I`m appreciated ...

The gnome eats some of his own food from his pack, politely declining the grubs and insects. He keeps his hands busy while sitting around the campfire, using his tools to mess with the small bits of gear he's found here and there in his travels. He keeps staring at the newest member of their group, sure that he's seen him before somewhere. Maybe from his time at Mount Ranier?? He thought so, but it might not be wise to bring up his time among the dwarves in this mixed company. Maybe sometime later when they could find a moment in private, he would ask.

Gareth is sitting on the ground and takes a look at the foodstuff gathered by Ngoya. His pleasant smile is directed at her when he says, "Milady, you spoil us. I had no idea of your excellent culinary abilities and would be delighted to try some."

With that, the dandy grabs a few grubs, eyes them suspiciously, and places one in his mouth. For a moment, his face betrays his true feelings before his smile returns. Swallowing hard, Gareth replies softly, "Very good. You guys should try this.

Leaving the grubs on a piece of cloth before him on the ground, Gareth picks a few berries and eats them instead, leaving the grubs untouched. "I wonder what other fine skills the lady possesses," he says with a wink.

Andus and the other recruits balk at the grubby dinner offerings and break in to the rations instead while setting up camp.

Andus says, "Uh, we should set up a watch. Lattimer's Rules #34 - Spellcasters get first or last watch. So, uh...that's you," he indicates Jacobim, "milord and, um, the gnome? Did I miss anyone?"

[sblock=OOC]I didn't think Jeremiah had said anything yet that would tell them he was a spellcaster, did he? He advertised himself more as a scout. He'll be happy to volunteer for the first or last shift that Jacobim doesn't take though if possible.[/sblock]

OOC: Due to racial prejudices and assumptions, most humans assume gnomes are fey and magical creatures. The worst among humans believe gnomes magically steal human babies to put in stew pots and other horrid things.

"I dabble in various mysteries, though I lean more towards the technological rather than the magical.", the gnome looks at Andus with a mild annoyance. "But I don't mind taking the first or the last shift though, whichever our distinguished companion doesn't want."

Ngoya

Squatting by Andus, Ngoya looks at the fearful faces of her companions. Few had probably spent time out of their cesspit of a city.

"I will take the middle watch Andus." she nods to their de-facto leader. Taking her bedroll away from the main area she finds a nice spot to bed down and curls up and goes to sleep.

"I'm willing to take guard duty, as well," Gareth replies, without answering the question about spellcasters. "How long does each shift take?"
