Hey Folks,
I'm eager to try the tool. I seem to have gotten the .xlsm file successfully onto my iPad via iCloud Drive and now it doesn't seem to want to play nice. I can open fine in Excel, but doesn't seem to want to save or enable macros. Do I have to have an Office 365 account to use?

Excel mobile is not able to run macros, however running macros are not needed to use the tool. There are 2 macros, one is used to reset the generator and the other used to change to a supported language (e.g. Italian). There are no other macros to used in the character generation process.

I recommend saving the template as empty and when you want to create a character save as and rename the file.

Excel mobile will automatically save the file for you and you shouldn't need an office 365 license. let me know if you get it working okay!

Hello! I really enjoy your design and have been using it for the Halfling Rogue I've been playing. Upon my last level up, our GM decided to allow me to dual class into the new Ranger/Stalker class, as given from the Unearthed Aracana series (I'd add a link here but apparently I can't add hyperlinks yet; it's from the 9-9-15 article from Wizards).

I was curious if there was anyway for me to add in those class features to your generator, or if you plan on adding them in during a future release?

Thanks!

Version 1.61 BETA - New Download - ForgedAnvil D&D 5E Character Generator v1.61 BETA - Zenith

There is now a BETA version in the downloads section with a draft version of the custom Subclass.
Download here - ForgedAnvil 5E Character Generator and take a moment and rate thisif you like it, thank you!

The purpose of this BETA version is to primarily test the Subclass feature in the tool and provide feedback on what's working well, what is not working well and what's missing.

Updates in this BETA release:
- Redesigned Adventurers Log
- Moved Faction section and details to Start sheets
- Added Duergar Subrace
- New Feature [BETA] - Subclass 1 (planned subclass 2, 3)
- Enhanced translations to CSIV, CSV (planned WildShape / Summary)
- Various bug fixes, spelling corrections and tool enhancements

Currently working on implementation of SCAG - this will take some time hence the BETA version to get some testing done before releasing 1.61

The Character Transfer Tool has yet to be updated but will partially work (~95% of your character should transfer.)

Let me know if you find issues, enjoy!

Again, love the spreadsheet. Small request.... For us old dudes with poor eyesight.

Perhaps make a tab with a character sheet with larger print.

I played around with the character summary tab. Changed the margins and % of the print preview. Came up with the attached image.

It is a nice size to print and read, but it is 9 pages, with only 3 pages of information.

Thanks for the feedback!

I'm working on increasing the number of named variables so that anyone can design their own Character Sheet I they way they like it. Using named variables allows a user to design a sheet and use all the pre-calculated values from generator. When a new version is released, a user can copy their own designed sheet (as long as it is only using the named variables) to the new version and it should work (you will probably need Excel 2010 - 2016). The Character Summary design is using this principle and works quite well (I'll be tweaking it further in v1.61 regarding spells)

Thanks for the feedback and great to hear you're enjoying the design!

There will be an option to customise the subclass of a class (but not the base class itself). For example if you want to remove spells from the Ranger Class (not Subclass) then this is not possible. A beta version has just been released, you can try it out and see what if it works okay. There are definitely some things missing but this is a BETA and I'm getting feedback before releasing 1.61 fully (most likely including SCAG material)

I will add my thanks to those you have already received.

A couple suggestions for 1.61 custom subclasses:
1. A way to bump up initiative. (IE: The swashbucklers allows you to add CHA to initiative)
2. A lot of subclasses grant more than one ability at third level. Just to make things neat and tidy, is it possible to get two level 3 boxes?

Other than that, once again, thanks and keep up the good work!

ForgedAnvil:

Yet more great work from the master.

I have just started playing around with 1.61 Beta and its amazing.

Like Pensivetoast above me though, I do have requests (like I usually do).
1) Either under Armor Class or Armor Proficiency, could you add Unarmored Defense along with an associated dropdown to select the related ability modifier?
2) A dropdown that allows you to select an alternate spell casting ability score (possible down with Spells and bonus spells).
3) This is just an endorsement for Pensivetoast's suggestions.
- In relation to his #1 suggestion:
A way to bump up initiative. (IE: The swashbucklers allows you to add CHA to initiative)
, possibly a drop down to the allow the addition of a secondary ability modifier to Initiative (and maybe a similar dropdown for AC).
- As for his #2 suggestion:
A lot of subclasses grant more than one ability at third level. Just to make things neat and tidy, is it possible to get two level 3 boxes?
, I'd suggest at least doubling the number of ability boxes. As to where to find the space to add these additional boxes, see my last suggestion for this posting. :)

Seeing as how this is one of the more complex additions to your sheet since you first released it, I suggest that maybe you limit subclasses to just one, then spread the data entry cells and dropdowns horizontally. Maybe a column for things like class, name, dropdowns, etc.; a column for ability boxes; and a column for spellcasting related options.

Once again, great work. :)

FYI, the text added by the sheet for a fighter's action surge is misleading. A fighter gains one additional action in addition to the action and "possible" bonus action they already have. The sheet makes it sound like when they use action surge they gain an additional bonus action as well.
