Hi all,
In the unofficial errata for Hoard of the Dragon Queen, Steve Winter mentions that there are meant to be two spellbooks in a wooden chest at one point in the adventure. The paragraph describing this accidentally got cut from the book. One spellbook is described as having belonged to a 7th level wizard, while the other belonged to a 9th level wizard.
I randomly generated what spells were in the books:
7th level wizard's spellbook:
1st: alarm, burning hands, charm person, chromatic orb, detect magic, earth tremor, grease, identify, mage armor, unseen servant
2nd: Aganazzar's scorcher, alter self, earthbind, flaming sphere, invisibility, Melf's acid arrow
3rd: clairvoyance, dispel magic, fireball, major image, remove curse
4th: fabricate, Otiluke's resilient sphere
9th level wizard's spellbook
1st: catapult, color spray, detect magic, expeditious retreat, false life, feather fall, grease, ice knife, magic missile, protection from evil and good, Tasha's hideous laughter, Tenser's floating disk
2nd: blur, dust devil, enlarge/reduce, locate object, magic mouth, Snilloc's snowball swarm, spider climb
3rd: fear, fireball, glyph of warding, Melf's minute meteors, protection from energy
4th: arcane eye, fire shield, stone shape, wall of fire
5th: dream, immolation, mislead
Based solely on the selection of spells in their spellbooks, who do you think these wizards were? What was their specialty? What were they like?
This is mostly just for fun, so have at it!
Cheers,
Jonathan
