I don't know as for others, but I suggest to pay attention to Underdark. You will remember it forever!!

From WotC (actually TSR), my guess would be Undermountain.

From anyone, I would guess World's Largest Dungeon is probably the biggest.

While World's Largest Dungeon is huge, my guess is that's probably only a 10th the size of Undermountain. Skullport alone is probably nearly the size of WLD.

What makes WLD unique is that it is fully described, with every single room (more than 1600 of them) given a detailed description. But in terms of size, it's probably not as big as Greyhawk Ruins, which I think has 3000 rooms, but most have only a one or two line blurb.

What makes Undermountain so huge is that it was expanded on through multiple supplements. But what may make it unsuitable for the project is that there are still large sections of Undermountain, each themselves nearly as large as WLD, which (at least to my knowledge) have not been thoroughly mapped or described in official material. For example, "Ruins of Undermountain" only describes the upper levels of the dungeons, and not Skullport, the Promenade, the lower Dwarf delved levels, Madgoth's Castle, or any of the middle levels, or any of the dozen or more other sublevels that have been introduced over time. Some further supplements have described or map portions of that, but not all of it. The whole complex though is probably not less than 10000 encounter areas, and I'm pretty sure just the mapped parts are larger than WLD.

Do areas that aren't actually detailed count? Because I'm pretty sure one of the Spelljammer adventures had a dungeon that was said to be the size of a planet - with only about a dozen relevant areas actually being detailed.

I would tend to say that they don't count, because the OP is looking for a map he can work from.

But I think even the mapped areas of Undermountain are larger than WLD. One problem though is that they may be in pieces. There are probably a dozen or so mapped areas, some of which by themselves have 800 or more described areas, but there is probably no continuous map of the whole dungeon. And Skullport, which is a city inside the dungeon, probably is mapped, but probably only at the street/building level with only a dozen or so buildings detailed in any high degree. If you mapped Skullport at the room level, it would probably be over 1000 encounter areas, but it's doubtful such a map exists.

Wow, I was not expecting such a large response from everyone! Thank you all!

From the sounds of it, it seems that "World's Largest Dungeons" might be what I need. Will it fit inside of minecraft though is the question? Since you guys are saying it is the most well detailed and mapped dungeon on the list of suggestions so far, I am leaning more to that. But, if it simply can not fit inside of minecraft I will have to go smaller.

Everything in minecraft is made out of blocks. 1 block is = 1 meter. 1 meter = 3.28084 feet. based on this I may just round it down to 3ft. The height limit to building in minecraft is 256 block/meters which is 839.895 feet tall.

Also, I can install a mod to increase the build height if need be.

Yes, it will fit. The reason it will fit is the same reason you shouldn't bother building it.

It's a single expansive flat dungeon. So you'll avoid the single biggest difficult in putting most dungeons into minecraft, which is that they often have lots of verticality, which eventually will overflow the 255 block limit you can build up. IIRC it's also pretty blocky, so you won't have to worry too much about corridors not running along north/south and east/west lines.

But just because it will fit doesn't mean you should build it. To make something worthwhile to build in minecraft, it needs to have some visual elegance to it to make it worth looking at, and while there are a few larger areas with lakes of lava and relatively high ceilings IIRC, there just isn't the dramatic interlocking 3D terrain you'd find in better done dungeon maps.

It's a very doable map, but you might not get a lot of nerd points and acclaim for doing it compared to more iconic settings like Temple of Elemental Evil, White Plume Mountain, or even the Caves of Chaos. It certainly wouldn't be my first choice to spend hundreds of hours building.

I'm pretty sure someone has already done Castle Ravenloft. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Tomb of Horrors out there. You might want o look at what people have already done before deciding on a project.

Ah! I missed that you were talking about Minecraft. They're probably not at all what you're looking for, but just in case, have you heard of MCDungeon (http://mcdungeon.bubblemod.org/) which is a map editor that adds customizable, randomized, pre-generated dungeons to existing Minecraft worlds; or Vech's Super Hostile series (http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum...714-ctm-collection-vechs-super-hostile-series) which are downloadable premade adventure worlds.

I am wanting to build it myself for a live stream to have something that looks nice and is challenging. I'm not really going to use it for anything other than decoration xD
