The wounded wolf will drop next attack unless I roll a multi eyed snake. As for the non injured ones I reckon it'll take 2shots
I would imagine the aura will have some form of physical effect when in it. Like warm fuzzies. As for the charm sounds like common knowledge among adventurous types. Same way I'm no Dr but I know double tapping some one in the head at 50paces with a .45 is fatal.Do the characters know that the paladin's aura protects them from Hypnotic Pattern? Or that damaging a charmed creature will cancel the charm? Maybe an Arcana check to know? It might affect what they decide to do next.
I've just tried it. It takes about 8 seconds to recite: "I'll buy you some time, but it's up to you chaps to come up with something clever. I'm going to heal myself a bit, then walk calmly towards the cave mouth."
I could shorten it to under 6 seconds by leaving out the "but it's" ... "something clever" clause, but I'm content to take the "it takes you an action" penalty for over-running. It's DM's call.
Saying "Focus on the wolf on the far left. Take the giants if they are still active Dom." is only about 4 seconds, so that would be under the limit. Problem solved.
Interesting. In my limited experience of RL telepathy, talking takes about the same time as talking out loud, because it's limited by the speed of comprehension of the receiver; whereas images take roughly half a second to recognize as whole images. So, if you can say it in pictures it's quicker but abstract ideas that have to be expressed in words don't gain. The main advantage then is distance.yeah, I was implying you could impart the message via imagery, i.e. communicating telepathically, but I suppose that may be stretching the RAI use of Rary's, IMHO I feel the communication of thoughts would be faster than actual speech regardless of imagery, that is that you are communicating ideas. An argument better left for another time
interestingly enough, I am using that spell in a currrent Pbp as we speak, and have added the imagery as flavor, will have to see how the Dm rules it.
Okay, if we reckon that broadcasting the message takes an action, so I can't do the LoH as well, I'll still make the move and take any AOs that come my way. I'm on 54hp currently.
Remember, I'm calmly walking away from the giant who's just clobbered me. He might be a bit worried by that. And the wolves I'm calmly walking towards might not think I'm a threat. Or maybe they will anyway.
I'm +8 on Deception ...
Now on to what I do, so you can analyze it.
1. Move Action: Jubali moves to the back wall east in a slightly diagonal direction. Given the scale you have listed 30 feet move should be sufficient.
2. Bonus Action: Inspiration to the cleric.
3. Action. Assuming the FG has engaged the paladin, she will cast hypnotic pattern DC 17 wisdom save on the back three wolves, the FG engaged with the paladin, and the paladin, wizard, and cleric. Given the scale you have created, it looks like all of them should be in the 30 foot cube the spell provides. If the FG is outside the range, that is acceptable as three of the wolves down is sufficient for the moment.
Cleric Spell Save DC: 16 +10 wisdom =26. He is unaffected by the hypnotic pattern. The rogue should be outside the cube near the wolf farthest west.
The wizard and paladin need to make a DC 17 wisdom save to resist the hypnotic pattern.
She will telepathically say, "Focus on the wolf on the far left. Take the giants if they are still active Dom."
No, I was meaning thats it for communication for the round. You can still move and take actions normally!
Okay, good. I'll go with the move I originally declared: Bedrock will use Lay on Hands to heal himself 25 points up to 79hp, with 40 points of LoH remaining. Then he'll shrug off the giant's "forgivable moment of rudeness" and move 30ft towards the cave mouth, walking calmly between two of the wolves, looking confident and acting like a top dog. He's hoping to get away with not being attacked, of course.
I think Flamestrike isn't requiring an action, he just intends that you keep the conversation short and pointed enough you could say it quickly while fighting and doing other things in the six second round as though you were speaking simple and direct commands of the kind you see in combat
