D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil

Thaliss telepathically says to all but the Gnome Dent, he could have been hostile, but wasn't, and even helped in the fight. I don't believe we will gain anything from killing him right now, and we don't know what we will loose by killing him, at least for the moment. Unless he is the half-elf that fled the pyramid battle in disguise. He is an illusionist after all..

I saved the secrets of my families advanced brewing technology and I intend to bring the greatest advancements to the ale, wine, and distilled beverage department in your local taproom. Tis my gift to the world!"[/color]

Thaliss then mumbles a few arcane words, and says verbally to the gnome, in jest, to reduce the tension "Then I will be looking forward to sampling this gift to the world, and will be toasting you when I do so!" .

He then adds: "Would you tell me, Mr. Spazzring, before you go, if you know what was Dara's tie to the spire? The captain commander seems to be quite fond of her. Also,if I understand you correctly, she used the spear to open the portal, by placing it in an aperture on an altar, in the level below the pyramid, right? And finally, would you know where Dara's halfelf companion could have headed to? As you may have seen, he disappeared from the fight."

OOC: Thaliss will wait for answers before asking the other questions. Dialogues are not that obvious in pbp games!

persuasion if required [roll0]

Thaliss cast guidance, and will use it on the insight check, focusing on the answer to the location of the half-elf.
A spell-plagued gnome would be a good disguise for a fleeing half elf ;-)

"Yes, the captain served her, though I think he would have taken power from her given the opportunity. I think he also had some prior knowledge of this prince of air. There was no device... just some kind of ritual. The blasted portal has become larger every day since. But yes, below the pyramid in one of the caverns. The windy one. Dara's former lover was called Windharrow by her, though I'd think he would like to forget that time. Just another mask for another party. One of many. A fool's fool. Plain simple Grayspear."

He winks.

OOC: Snap! So the half-elf Windharrow/greyspear is THE prince of air! Are you guys game to beat him up for the 1000gp, and 10x more to return Dara to her father? I smell a fight coming, perhaps after a rest? ;-)

[sblock]DENT SAYETH WE NEEDST DOTH WAX HIM.[/sblock]

Dent shook his head, trying to shake himself free of Thaliss's thoughts. "I hate when you do that!" He shook his head some more, a bit like a bull-headed mastiff ridding itself of water. Growling, Dent had had enough. Malice and curiosity overcame what few poor manners he had; Dent used his free hand to invade the gnome's personal space. He touched a patch of peeling skin on the gnome's face and pulled, wanting to see how large a chunk he could dislodge, and what lay beneath.

OOC: Do I need some kind of roll for that?

Maighan goes to stand with the others, near Dent. She can sense the tension in the party, but doesn't share it. The gnome is clearly massaging the story in his favor, but she doesn't get the sense that he's necessarily involved with the cult. If he is, well, he'd slip up eventually and she'd be there.

The greater situation was this 'portal.' Few things could interfere with the natural balance of the world more than a portal linking it to another one.

"What's the fastest way to this portal from here?" she asked.

Maighan frowns, then nods slowly. "I suppose we can get down there quickly enough then. Getting back might be more difficult. Some preparation would be wise."

The skin pulls right off and seems to crumble into nothingness in your hand.

OOC: Intelligence (Investigation)
