D&D 5E [5e] QL's Al-Qadim Game

That is perfect. I mentioned him in my backstory briefly. He has been my shadow in the Citadel for the 20 years I was there. Technically he was Fatima's valet but she passed his bond to Salahuddin when he returned to the material plane. He's there to protect her love and also keep him faithful. It would have been nice if she had told all this to Salahuddin first. It will be interesting since Salahuddin does not see Fatima in that way and thinks of her as more an older sister or mother figure. She did raise him since he was 10. I think hilarity will ensue from this at some point. I don't want to know what havok a jealous noble djinn can cause.

Oh, I'm sure I can figure something out ;)

I ran through some random tables in the DMG to get ideas for your genie valet, Sinjin... Feel free to run with any of these!

Sinjin is a tasked genie valet (CR 2) who once served the djinni Calipha Fatima ibn Zaida, Mistress of the Northern Gale, in the Citadel of Steel and Ice. His mistress appointed him to serve the sha’ir Salahuddin, and he obeyed with sweetness, joy, and tongue firmly in cheek.

Alignment: LN(G)
Appearance: wears distinctive jewelry
Bond: Utterly loyal to Calipha Fatima ibn Zaida
Flaw: Overpowering greed
Ideal: People
Interaction with others: friendly
Mannerism: makes constant subtle jokes or puns
Talent: Thieves’ Cant (!)
Useful knowledge: # (need of think of something)

Paints a very interesting picture of Sinjin! Maybe there was roguery in his background? Or maybe he was tasked to a band of Ali Baba style thieves? Maybe he tries to be the serious tradition-minded bodyguard, but finds he enjoys Salahuddin's company and the company of mortals more than he expected?

Maybe some combination of all three. Perhaps he was he was a young and brash Djinn bound to some bandit king. He enjoyed his time on the material plan to much and was punished and made a tasked genie valet. He has been forbidden to return to the material plane for 1001 years. At the Citadel he was proper but now that he is away from his mistress he is starting to reverse. I can even see Salahuddin treating him more as a brother than a servant.

Let's say disintegrate is a forbidden spell kept only by mighty wizards (maybe even an ally or member of the Brotherhood). This is also the spell that, when sent to fetch, your gen Easifa overheard white-robed mages bearing stolen treasures to the efreet.

You can make a DC 16 Intelligence (Arcana) check to have Easifa retreive disintegrate. On a success, you gain the spell without incident. However, on a failure...

5th - 6th Level Spells: The offended keeper of the spell (whether god, extraplanar being, or mighty wizard) sends a servant to punish you.

Decided to use Orokos since I have an account there.

Arcana Roll: 1d20+5 22

I'm working on my adventure hook. We now have my reason for requesting an audience with the sheikh but now I need a reason to go to Qaybar. I like the idea of being tasked to go there by the Djinn (Either the Great Caliph or one of his Viziers) but what would they want me to accomplish. I think finding a hidden treasure might be a good idea with a secondary objective of clearing out efreet sympathizers and protect the surrounding tribes. The question is what am I looking for or do I even know. I could have just been told to travel to Qaybar and I would know what is needed of me when I arrive. Not being told sits well with teh idea behind the Djinn and the Invisible College who would want to keep these treasure secret. Just offer my protection and services to the Jann.

Your gen safely retrieved disintegration!

That sounds very djinn-like, only giving Salahuddin the barest of instructions.

Do I begin this game already attached to our Vizier, or shall I be joining him once the game is already in motion?

Akilah is a woman. Er, at least I think so Thateous? It is one of those names that can go either way, depending on culture.

Anyhow, I'm thinking - since we have the new party coming into view - that Sheikh Ali al-Hadd of Tajar will be making some introductions during the opening scene at his court. His herald has some scrolls of introduction, from the High Imam of the Mosque of Hakiyah & the Great Caliph of the Djinn no less! ;) This is when he can introduce Ankabut (by another name) as an acolyte sent to serve Vizier Akilah.

EDIT: And lest I forget!

If you want my full title it would be:

Salahuddin Idn Hamid al-Qadib, the Wind Called, Consort of the Venerable Fatima idn Zaida, the Mistress of the Northern Gale, Mortal Hand of the Great Caliph Husam al-Balil ben Nafhat al-Yugayyim.

Akilah is indeed a woman as she is a Hakima. Her character sheet is complete numbers wise just not equipment.
