I was kind of hoping this would be about what kind of homebrew people have made instead of about their impressions of the UA articles. I read "What's in your unearthed arcana?" and thought it meant, what have you created for your game.

I was riffing on "What's in your wallet?"

I assume that all homebrew is in Zardnaar 's PHB3. ;)

Nope its the EN5ider classes with the zendikar pdf Unlikely heroes and other stuff.

My homebrew is a 5E/Basic mash up with AD&D influence. 4 races 4 classes slow healing AD&D multiclassing and micro feats.

It's a mixed bag for me. I see some stuff that I think is ok, some stuff that I don't mind but that I also don't care about, and a few things that make me go, "that sounds kind of cool." But nothing that made me as much or more excited as options in the core books.

More than anything else, the UA articles illustrate to me the limitations of the class chassis/subclass system. What I would love to see is something that actually broke away from the sameness and did something NEW with the system.

For a simple system with such potential for modularity, there are startlingly few 5e options that aren't basically just rehashes of other options.

I find it impossible to choose one answer for this poll, because these weekly UA articles have been running hot and cold. Most of them have been acceptable, a few stood out (I'm a sucker for all things Feywild), and the new Fighter and Monk options bored me unto my first Death Save.

WOTC seems to be having almost as much difficulty with martial classes as Paizo....

I read the UA stuff & usually just shrug. Some are better than others, some worse. Balanced out. Either way, not finished product so I'm not going to really worry one way or another.
If any of the players want to make use of them in the game I run that's fine.

I'm also in the shrug camp. Some of the ideas presented are interesting, others seem like they're trying to make things complicated for the sake of being complicated (Mainly Kensei weapons, which are apparently supposed to work like the monk weapons do, except they disallow the martial arts bonus action attack, and they aren't supposed to (though as written it does) allow a dex bow to use str.)

I'll wait to see if they end up being cleaned for better intended interactions/simplicity.

I'm happy it's a playtesting feature. Some of them (psionics, for example) are complete whiffs at trying to hit the class just right (psionics would probably be better handled as a set of sub-classes).

But it shows us they're thinking about these things and working on them, so the utterly bad options now could easily become massively good options later.
