D&D 5E The big mechanical expansion

Says WotC but it may be a bit further away than "soon".
Thanks for the near useless answer. Saying "WotC" adds no value or grants no believability to the OP. See below.

when they say mechanical expansion does that mean a revised players handbook or a new book? With the new revised ranger?
This is why I asked who. And was hoping for a link to an actual source.

The quote from Mearls and/or Crawford was something along the lines of, "We are working on the game's first major mechanical expansion." Sorry, I'm too tired to google for the exact quote. But it was pretty unequivocal.
This is getting close. Thanks for adding what you could remember.

Anyone know who said this? When and where they said this? And actually able to link to something reliable as a source? Thanks in Advance.

A common dungeon trope is a 10' x 10' room with an orc. And Pie. Consult the Pie Table to determine what kind of Pie:

d6+d8

2 The Orc ate the pie. There is only a cheap tin remaining with some crumbs. You can get a 1 cp for turning the tin in to a baker.
3 Shepherds Pie. Not the good Kind like grandma makes, but the medieval version, with leftover bits of roadkill.
4 Cake. It's a Lie.
5 Key Lime Pie.
6 Coconut Cream Pie.
7 Cherry Pie.
8 Pumpkin Pie.
9 Apple Pie.
10 Lemon Meringue Pie.
11 Chocolate Cream Pie.
12 Pecan Pie.
13 Halfling Meat Pie. Not Halfling meat, but rather Meat Pies that Halflings make. Or Halfling Meat, why not?
14 Quiche.

It was Mike Mearls. I thought it was in a tweet, but google reveals it was in a UA article from a year ago. Here.

To whit: "At this stage, we’ve begun considering what the first, major mechanical expansion to the game might look like."

Thank you! So in other words, "Nothing New". No reason to actually think the OP got it right that the anything is imminent. Someone needs to go look up Soon (tm).
