I think it originally started in early 2016? Can't remember the exact date, but it was bad timing because then the database crashed wiped out the thread entirely.

Good question! So, historically, it would have been a piece of paper with the Sheikh's royal seal and fancy languages basically saying "she's good for it (perhaps a net sum listed), and I'll foot the bill." I thing something would be written to the person you were paying, using your signet ring stamped in wax to confirm it's you, saying something like "yep, I vouch for this merchant to receive X amount of gold for such-and-such services."
Now, in a magical world we could have the (net sum) magically change according to what is recorded by the Sheikh's accountant with a magical quill, so the total value of the writ is kept in "real time" as it were.
Though the merchant would still need to go cash in the stamp/sealed note you wrote, so there'd be some lag time (while he sought an audience with the Sheikh or Sheikh's accountant).
Yeah. A writ from a source that's trusted, like a king or lord or major religious figure (with a reputation for paying off debts) would be pretty much as good as coin for most places. Almost an early form of paper currency, really...considering that paper currency is pretty much just a note from the issuing nation saying "this is really worth this much, just go with it."

Ajan has brought 13 camels, Nimar and his siblings/rogues have 1 pack camel, and Husam has a gifted warhorse.
Your numbers include: The six of you, Sinjin, Nimar and his 5 siblings/rogues.
Do you have a preferred marching order when traveling the desert? I've envisioned something like this for starters, but this is just to help visualize, not set in stone...

As far as the original question, well... there are both advantages and disadvantages to having us like this - on one hand it's a bit odd to have all of them behind us, but on the other hand there is some strength at being together.
