D&D 5E [5e] QL's Al-Qadim Game

Ready as well.

I should note that I will be away for an extended weekend. In theory I will have internet (I'm bringing a laptop), but you never know for sure, it's in a remote area.

Just a note I am on vacation starting Friday and going through next week. I will have limited internet access and time. I will post what I can but mite be fairly quiet until I return.

:/ I don't really want to drop the game, I just feel rather lost as to what is going on. I have the gist, but it feels like I don't know enough of the setting, so most of what is said by everyone goes over my head. I feel I have nothing to add.

That said, I'll keep at it for now. I may not have much to add, but maybe I will soon.

I'm a little lost too, but I figure my character probably is a little as well so it works. My guess is as the plot progresses, our characters will be involved/witnesses to the complications and have a greater buy-in. Right now, the group is still handling plot from before our entrance that hasn't really had any new wrinkles yet. It'll come.

I keep pulling up the thread to make a post and I just have nothing to add to the scene. If no one else wants to say something, I say we just let them go and move on.

Yar, don't wait on me either, if that's what's going on. :)

Wow, way to boost a DM's morale ;)

EDIT: I'll wait till Thursday/Friday in case others want to post, but if no one wants to post anything by then I'll just assume you wish the merchants well and carry on?

lol...it's not a comment on the game for me!

Amina is an assassin in disguise in a party full of people who can detect deception at a glance, ok? She's not inclined to make waves. We're heading for a city she has business, she is fine with this. Werejackal dungeons and merchants are distractions. As long as there's no threat, she's keeping her head down. :)

For what it's worth, Husam has no money to trade (I think he has the 10gp starting wealth) and he needs to save that for apples. They aren't violent or aggressive. I think Husam would just wish them well at this point.

Technically your party has a writ for lots of gold (something like 45,000 gp left), fyi.
Ancalagon Matthan Shayuri Thateous tglassy VLAD the Destroyer

But the overall vibe I'm getting from everyone is that maybe you'd like this to be a different style of game than I've been running it? For example, I'm seeing a lot of rather short replies, tglassy is mentioning how the long messages are overwhelming, comments from tglassy & Matthan that they don't get the setting or story, Shayuri sort of fading into the background until there's action, and Thateous' PC being thrust into a leadership type role that Thateous doesn't seem that eager or able to fulfill.

So, I'm wondering what's not working. I feel like I'm not engaging the group the way I'd like to.

Do you want more action, is that it? Do you see yourselves as more of a "Seal Team Six in an Arabian Nights story"? Do seemingly unrelated random encounters / NPCs / side quests turn you off & you want a very directed more linear narrative? Were you expecting something else? Do we need to adjust the party or the PCs or your roles in the party to get the effect you want?

Please advise. I'm a bit disheartened.

Hmm I'm fine in a leadership position I just don't want to hog the spotlight all the time. I left the merchant dealing to them because they took the lead. I don't mind which style of gameplay we go for, Akilah will still be the same charcter either way. No hard feelings toward anyone from me.
