D&D 5E I need Rogue/Paladin/Bard MC advice please.

Oh shoot I did forget to mention being a scout. Thanks for the input. I appreciate the guidance spell wise also. I’m not to sure which spells would be helpful and which should be avoided. I’m not sure what 5e campaigns are like, and we typically played created campaigns in the other editions. For some reason I keep forgetting to answer this. We currently plan for a weekly session that lasts about 4 to 6 hours. The current DM is a new DM and tends to get distracted so we don’t always get a lot done when he DMs. We plan on doing the whole EE campaign and then possibly moving on from there or starting a new party with hoard of the dragon queen.

Drop the paladin.
That is too convoluted, and you don't want to push bard too far away.

2 levels of rogue or maybe 3 or 4 is probably good. I might be inclined however to move fast towards blade if you really want to play one. Level 6 and high charisma are important. So my goal would be:
Rogue 1
Blade 8
Then rogue up to 4.

Cunning action is great, but if you want twf, you can do without.

Ok, just a quick login from mobile.

Med armor doesn't limit your dex modifier to relevant checks, just some of it inposes stealth disadvantage.

I don't see a lot of gain from a 1 level rouge deep both in terms of utility and combat. Basically everything the rogue gets can be replicated/compensated for with backgrounds/spells. Slower progression of bard abilities is a hefty cost.

Regarding spell selection a lot depends on your group composition.

I sadly have no experience with EE.

I feel the same way. For some reason I just keep going back to rogue by default.

That is probably 3.x hangover that you still have ;) It is really a good job by wotc that you don't need to create mc abominations to be efficient now.

Would be interested to know how your stats roll out and what will your party be.

Yeah I played 2e only on video games and learned to play the tabletop form during 3e and 3.5 so it’s probably that for sure. Or it’s the old only rogues can disarm magical traps nonsense or the actual trapsense like abilities of the rogue lol

We will for sure have an oath of devotion paladin, a ranger (whichever archetype gets horde breaker), and a pact of tomes warlock. We have a player who usually can’t come do to work that is a barbarian if some sorts. I’m the only one who hasn’t decided on my class yet and the DM, my brother, doesn’t care when we do everything or what we play as so long as we are ready in time for our next session which is Saturday night.

Given the party composition, I'd guess that most likely it will be a good idea to focus on controller role in combat. So pick your spells accordingly. Also depends on what level are you starting from.

Honestly, based upon what you're saying and the high melee composition of the party, I'd just go with a Lore bard with the criminal background. You could fold in some rogue or paladin, but you'll want to be spellcasting a lot.
